Edmontosaurus annectens is one of the largest hadrosaurs of all, being greater in size than its sister species E. regalis, since E. annectens had an average length of 12 to 13 meters, with exceptional individuals up to 15 meters long, such is the case of the MOR 1609 specimen, being rare cases and possibly the result of good health and unique conditions. This species inhabited North America during the late Cretaceous period, in the Maastrichtian, inhabiting the Lance Formation and Hell Creek Formation, being one of the last non-avian dinosaurs to become extinct, and its main distinction from E. regalis is that the skull of E. annectens is more elongated and flat than its older relative. This species consists of more discoveries and more specimens that have allowed us to study the species, being relatively frequent to find fossilized skins of these animals such as in the specimens AMNH 5060, SM R4036 and the nicknamed "Dakota", where the pattern of the scales, and even due to the difference in size between one and the other, it is believed that they would have had a pattern of striped colors on the tail, thanks to this much is known about the appearance of this animal, the greatest attribute to highlight being the presence of a skin sac where a large nail of finger 3 and 4 stands out where they are fused, while finger 2 meets its own nail and finger 5 is separated.
