Hi there, everybody!
Here I am with a little ink upload I made as warming (before tackling some further, bigger ones to come soon) : skekLach the Collector, as seen in the 2007 Legends of the Dark Crystal manga.
While he is not necessarily my favorite "not-in-the-movie" Skeksis, I really enjoyed his personality and looks from that manga, and think he had a lot of personality as a character!
So, here's to that version of him! He was drawn with fineliners and common graphite pencils, and was really very fun to draw!
**By the way-while I might not be objective about this (though who is actually objective about the things they like?) as a lifelong Dark Crystal fan, I'd absolutely recommend other fans to check out that two-volume manga.
While it doesn't tie-in (in several, quite major aspects) with the recent parts of the franchise, I really think the authors of Legends did a spectacular job at keeping full-on consistency to what we saw in the 80's Dark Crystal (and what the nerdiest of us have read in the Pre-production notes, old side-materials and behind-the-scenes comments by Jim henson.) ^^
Among the fans who read it, there are some discrepancies about the main Gelfling characters (some think of them as very sympathetic and endearing, others think they're bland and uninteresting, that's up to the reader's taste, I say!) , but there's also a general consensus from those who *like myself* feel more fascinated by the Skeksis and their schemy castle politics:Their scenes are really fun and good to read. There's enough of them, their machinations and power-plays there to have a lot of fun, and I personally feel that the development the authors had given to each one of them there was perfectly in-tune with each character they presented!
