Taking this day, on November 3rd, to truly appreciate the creation and existence of the one true king of the monsters, Gojira. Not a creature created by a desire to feast of human blood like Dracula, a monster made by human science like Frankenstein's monster, or a man transformed by a full moon like the Wolfman. Puny creatures with first-world problems compared to the beast with a true purpose in its creation. A message of the wrongness caused by human arrogance and the suffering made by the use of nuclear weapons. Godzilla was more than just a monster trampling cities in front of a camera. He was an ideal made in flesh. Because of the great efforts of Toho, that ideal came to life in a dark but meaningful way. Even after over sixty years, that name lives on. Underneath the many faces, through the many creative decisions (for better or worse), and through the passion of fans.
