This painting is a pairing for Peony Millefiori because I so wanted to repeat the painting experience of the style. A background for a frilly flower, using a blown glass effect of multiple added 'canes' of colour, but keeping it simpler than the true millefiori (thousand flower) Italian glass making technique. I am always drawn to stained glass effects in my work, so the vibrancy hopefully evokes this too. Mosaic and marbling effects also feature, hopefully bestowing a sense of life and energy.
