Machairodus and Dinocrocuta were once enemies; they went after the same prey, and often fought for the same carcasses. Now, although with occassional growls and hisses, more out of habit than anything, they tolerate each other. As time goes by they have learned that joining forces brings them more successes than quarreling; it is more difficult for prey to escape from both of them, and working together they can bring down some of the largest animals in the plains. And the meat is usually enough for the both of them!
Now, they even rest under the same tree, regaining their strength before the next hunt.
Doodle inspired by the sometimes complex relationship between hyenas and leopards, as well as animals such as coyotes and badgers and groupers and moray eels, which sometimes hunt together and apparently even develop what one could describe as attachment.
