Well, this was certainly a change of pace. I rarely do environment art, but decided to get some practice in. I've been on a pretty strong
Halo kick, so I decided to just roll with that.
This is development work for a
Halo side-story that I've had on the back-burner for a few years. It takes place principally on a Forerunner installation called the "Archive" (realistically, it is likely one of many Archive installations), which was designed to house large numbers of physical specimens. It is essentially a catalog of what objects and information could not be stored within the Domain.
Aesthetically, I've continued the same trend that's been present in virtually all of my
Halo work over the last few years: Trying to reconcile and blend Bungie and 343i's visual styling. In this case, the simplistic overall shaping is more reminiscent of Bungie's Forerunner architecture, while the clean paneling and subtle variations in surface angles draw upon 343i's design work.
SPARTAN Wulfgang-a359 included for scale (side note- I am extremely pleased by how his armor looks when simplified down like this).
