The 1878 proposal by the Eiffel society for the Luis I Bridge only contemplated a deck at the level of the Ribeira. In 1879 the government launches a new contest, and Eiffel partner Theophile Seyrig wins and the bridge is built between 1881 and 1886

In 1355, a new belt of walls began to be built, which was completed around 1370. This New Fence has been called the Fernandina Wall, because despite having been completed during the reign of King D. Fernando.

This place is usually visited by tourists on the way to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The interior decorations of the Transfiguration Church depict episodes from the life of Sergius of Radonezh. In the courtyard there is a monument to the monk. On the Pazhe river there is a spring of Sergius of Radonezh with a wooden wheel.

Temple in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord. The abbot is Hieromonk Roman (Shubyonkin). A two-storey house was built for the sick and the reception of pilgrims.

A view of lovely golden larches growing high above the two Crater Lakes in the Sawtooth Ridge area of the North Cascades near Methow, Washington.  This basin includes upper & lower Crater Lake, which both are adorned with spectacular fall colors along the lakeshore.  As I was ascending to higher ridgelines, nearly every peak in the region was visibly orange just below treeline with larch groves however one has to be at a certain angle with the sun to get the perfect glistening shine.

Lovely view from the upper Crater Lake in the Sawtooth Ridge area west of Methow, Washington.  The afternoon view reveals a calm lake with the golden colors of subalpine larches all around the basin leading up to the cliff faces alongside Mt. Bigelow.

In the centre of Havana is the Parque Central with a statue of Jos'e Marti, the Cuban national hero. Already in the 19th century it was the hub of urban life. The first hotel in Cuba, Inglaterra, was built here in 1875 and declared an official cultural monument in 1981. Right next door, the Gran Teatro is home to the Cuban National Ballet. And opposite, on the other side of the park, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Manzana de Gomez, Cuba's oldest department shop.
