Functional Training For Stoke Rehabilitation

Среда, 08 Мая 2019 г. 21:36 + в цитатник

The importance of rehabilitation for stroke victims can not be overemphasized as this is the key for a better life for the patient. From the patient's viewpoint, decisions about whether or not to comply with rehabilitation programmes using technology are rational but often cannot be predicted by therapists 53 Understanding the patient will help with compliance to rehabilitation programmes that suits their needs and abilities.
For example, those who intend to undergo neurological physiotherapy in Brazil through the Public Unique Health System - Sistema Único de Saúde, SUS - do not always start physiotherapy exercises for cerebral palsy child the service quickly (waiting list or reduced professional contingent) or are not attended more than once or twice a week, in sessions with minimum stimulation time.

The current evidence supports a role for exercise which combines cardiorespiratory training (including walking as an exercise mode) and strength training (particularly involving the upper body) presented in a group setting with other stroke survivors.
Tse T, Binte Yusoff SZ, Churilov L, Ma H, Davis S, et al. (2017) Increased work and social engagement is associated with increased stroke specific quality of life in stroke survivors at 3 months and 12 months post-stroke: a longitudinal study of an Australian stroke cohort.
These problems can create a vicious circle” of further decreased activity and greater exercise intolerance, leading to secondary complications such as reduced cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle atrophy, osteoporosis, and impaired circulation to the lower extremities in stroke survivors.

A recent review of 13 studies including 517 stroke patients with mild to moderate impairment of their arms found that strengthening hands and arms with small weights, resistance bands, and pulley weights could be done without increasing spasticity and pain.
However, qualitative data obtained through interviews with people in the intervention group indicated that there were other benefits to using technology, such as the ability to look back on progress, share the rehabilitation experience with family and benefits for patients with visual or cognitive deficits who require support to follow a written program.
The type of physical activity prescribed must take into account the stroke patient's functional limitations and co-morbidities, as well as the patient's personal preferences, environment, and resources, and could range from an exercise program at home to an appropriate community or sport program.
