Thank you guys for the great summer! We had a blast.

Summer Camp diary - Part 6 |
Well, there hasn`t been happening that much since the last time Jukka posted the blog. We decided to take a 4-day break from rehearsing the songs `cause there isn`t much we can do to them anymore. Even though every time we dive into them something small comes up; new drum fill here, a new bass line there, new orchestral arrangement hook somewhere, etc. It`s just that we`ve been rehearsing and toying with the songs so much (gotta believe it, just look at the photos of this blog) that everyone here`s having a bloat.
Also since Marco is busy doing his own things until tomorrow and Anette not joining the camp until in 2 weeks, there wasn`t much else for us three to do than..

Interview with Tarja from Femme Metal |
Interview By Miriam "NocturnalConcerto" C.
Trascription and editing by Andy Axworthy, Robin Stryker & Miriam "NocturnalConcerto" C.
I've watched "I Feel Immortal" video and I love it. I think that it's the best videoclip ever of your solo career. If I'm not wrong you have shot the video in Iceland...can you tell us more about the story?
Thank you! The storyboard was drawn by the director, Jörn Heitmann. And we were talking about it very closely with him, where we should go to shoot this very emotional video. And Iceland paints the picture because we wanted to shoot something immortal in the video. And what could be immortal? It was definitely this waterfall, mountains, rocks and ocean, something that is immortal. We went there, and it was incredibly beautiful country with these amazing places to visit and film. And it was beautiful, really beautiful, we were very lucky. The story is about the cycle of life. What is life about? Life is about loving somebody, losing somebody, struggling to find your way in life, the cycle of life. So that is about that. It is a very, very emotional video.
This year you have partecipated at the Miskolc festival. And at the press conference a journalist asked you if this gig will be out in DVD and you have replied that "no, because for do it you need to record at least 2 gigs and a lot of preparation." Have you in mind to record something for a DVD during the upcoming tour?

Beneath Meet & Greet |
When my friend called me to say she had won tickets for the What Lies Beneath pre-listen I was ecstatic. I have wanted to meet Tarja for years and to have the chance to not only meet the voice but also to listen to an unreleased album made me feel over the moon. I have been waiting for this album since late 2008 when she started working on it and now, well, I have listened to it, loved it and craved for more.

Tarja in Rock Hard |
Tarja
Mama is a freak
My Winter Storm worked because of the huge Nightwish bonus with just one and a half hit singles and loads of meaningful semi-warm fillers. What Lies Beneath has to show Tarja Turunen now on her own feet. And this does this album for sure.
Of course Tarja's voice stays a guarantee for a general fluffiness but WLB is edgier. Falling awake, pimped up by guitar genius Joe Satriani opens the album with a riff vhich is very smashing for Tarja and bobody for sure expected All that remains screamer Phil Labonte as guest musician - even if he shows himself as rather mother-in-law-friendly most of the time. Despite such publicity arousing performances, WLB does sound more individual and homogenous than the previous album.
"I still can't complain about MWS. I love this album, it has some really good songs but the production just wasn't right", tells the 33old who meanwhile moved completely to her husband in Buenos Aires. "With 3 years distance, you can see what went wrong. Too many things happened at once. A lot of people were involved in the CD. But I first had to learn to trust the people around me, before I can open myself to them. I was pretty nervous back then and a bit shy as well."

Orkus interview |
“This awareness made me humble but not less strong-willed.”
Last time we were chatting with the tiny Finn about the most recent happenings of her solo career, now there’s finally a more detailed interview about the long awaited and really budding successor of “My Winter Storm” called “What Lies Beneath”. Tarja, who’s now permanently living in Argentina, humorously revealed us her personal reflections of the present as well as the past.
Orkus: Your new album has the title “What Lies Beneath”. What do these words represent for you?
Tarja: With “What Lies Beneath” I’ve personally found a trend-setting title at the early beginning of the composing process. The album is basically about what is hidden in me as a woman and as an artist as well as in the rest of the world. In the last past years I’ve learned that it’s always worth it giving things a second view, because with stolidly looking at something only once you might get a wrong impression. This awareness has gotten very important for me meanwhile and everything of my second album, especially the artwork, is true to this motto. If you for example have a friend and you think you know him very well, you get totally confused if he suddenly acts completely different than usually. So “What Lies Beneath” is about the fact that first impressions often can be deceiving or partial. I think that there are many mysterious and hidden things in our life and we don’t know why they happen. The only thing we can do is looking at them again in a different way.

Interview: Tarja Turunen (Part 2) |
In part two of our interview , Tarja Turunen talks about the guests she chose to play on her new album including some surprise guests. EF also got to ask her about her forthcoming show in Shepherds Bush Empire in October.
How did u get in touch with Joe Satriani. He plays on the song Falling Away ?
Doug Wimbish, bass player of Living Colour. He's been working with me for a few years now. He recorded the bass on the album and Doug is a friend of Joey. They toured together in the USA. I got to meet Joey when I went to work in Los Angeles for the mixing of the album. And I had an idea for Falling Wway to have a guitar solo. I have all of Joey's albums and it was a really huge honour to have him on the track. He said yes and he was listening to the song and he loved the song. He said yeah I'll do this *laughs*

Interview: Tarja Turunen (Part 1)
EF was invited to hear Tarja Turunen's new album What Lies Beneath and Tarja herself was there to answer questions about her new album. This is part one of our interview.
How is your stay in London ?
This city is so pretty in the Summer. We arrived yesterday. So we had a show in Wacken (Wacken Festival in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany) the day before yesterday and I was feeling a little bit tired. We just returned from Buenos Aires where I'm living in Argentina.
What was Wacken like ?
Wacken was amazing. I think it was my best show so far ever in my career. It was 80,000 people this year. Beautiful show. Really nice people. After the solo thing started, everything was open. There were no real answers given to me. And now for the second album its really been great. I feel like this is the best place to be. So Wacken was a really important show.

Interview with Tarja from metal.de |
When a good-mooded, slightly late Tarja Turunen calls your mobile phone, your day can't really be a bad one. With her new album, "What Lies Beneath" to be released soon, I talked with the former Nightwish frontwoman and current solo artist about her new songs, private goals and her pending Tour with the Horror-bard Alice Cooper.
Tarja - "What Lies Beneath" is a very personal album. I hope that my fans can feel this.

NIGHTWISH SUMMER CAMP DIARY (week 32)
When checking the pictures from our summer camp, one might think that it's all about fishing, watersports and boozing. That's actually mostly true... but we have gotten something done here musicwise too! And hey, we never said this is a band camp, it's a SUMMER CAMP!!! =)
Last weekend Marco abandoned us three here to take care of his responsibilities with Tarot and Northern Kings. We decided to rehearse the last piece, a monster of a song and to go through parts of the other songs that we yet didn't feel 100% satisfied with. We came up with plenty of little tricks that bring some needed final edge to the songs; some overlong fills, little breaks and some little time signature changes. The last song turned out to be a great tune that would have enough parts for three full songs, but which still forms a tight entirety of fast riffing, slow, beautiful mood and heavy-duty-rhythm.
