If you're having issues regarding your printer, these troubleshooting suggestions below can assist you in solving the problem.

The printer doesn't have an indicator of power.

Make sure the printer is powered on. If a printer is turned operating, it will display some light or LED (light-emitting diode) (usually blue or green), signaling that it's receiving power.

If there aren't any indicator lights, ensure the printing device has an active power outlet by checking each connection to your power cord. After that, press the printer's power button.

If, after completing these steps, your printer is still not displaying an indicator of power status, the printer could be experiencing a serious internal hardware problem. We recommend contacting the printer's manufacturer for repair or replacement.

The cables are not properly connected.

Your printer must be connected to two cables: the power cable and the data cable. Be sure that the power and the data cable (parallel cable or USB cable) are connected to the computer and printer.

Printer error (orange or blinking light)

Once your printer has finished its initial startup, you'll see an uncolored light. If the light is blinking or orange, usually it's a sign of an issue with the printer. A jammed paper or a problem with the toner or ink cartridge may cause the error.

There are no guidelines for all printers. When you notice an illuminated light blinking, you should visit the manufacturer's website or read your printer's manual for specific information about the error.

No paper or paper jam

In the absence of paper, your printer will not print. Be sure there is paper in the cartridge for printers or trays. Then, make sure that there is no paper from the printer that is jammed or not fully being fed through the printing device. Inkjet printer-related problems

If you're experiencing an issue related to ink, The status indicator of your printer illuminates (mentioned in the previous section) is likely to be blinking. If it's not, it's possible to skip the following section. If you've recently added a new ink cartridge, try these suggestions.

Self-testing of printers

Many printers offer the option to print a test sheet. A printer's printed test page helps you test whether the printer is operating. Self-testing for printers is generally done by pressing several keys. If you need help with how to do to use the self-test feature of your printer, consult the manual of your printer or visit the website of the printer's manufacturer.

It is also possible to run an online self-test to determine whether the computer can see the printer and can print. Follow the steps below to complete this test.

Microsoft Windows users

• Open the Control Panel.
• Double-click or click the Printers or Printers or the Devices and Printers icon.
• Right-click on the printer you wish to test and choose The Properties or the printer Properties option. If you don't see your printer, it means that the printer may not be installed.
• In the printer's Properties window, select the print Test Page button.
• If your printer can print an initial test page, then your printer is correctly set up. If you cannot print using other programs, the program you're trying to print from may need help.

The older versions of Windows with printers that are older

If you own an older printer running MS-DOS, Windows 3. x, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT, you can try the following test with software.

• Start your Windows commands line.
• To access the root directory, by typing then press Enter.
• Reroute dir to the printer by entering dir > lpt1 and pressing Enter.

The above should be taken from this directory and printed on the printer. If it doesn't print, consult the troubleshooting section on your operating system.

Note: The above command does not perform the paper feed. Therefore, you'll need to select the printer's FF or PP buttons. Alternatively, you could try manually ejecting the paper.

Printer drivers

If your printer doesn't have flashing lights or is working properly, It's possible that you could be experiencing a driver-related problem. Printers Parallel (LPT) Printers

Suppose the printer that you're connecting to this computer is an LPT (parallel port) printer.

In that case, we recommend confirming the following settings to determine if the printer is not working.

Parallel port in BIOS

• Input the BIOS settings of your computer.
• After entering the BIOS check, you are using the Parallel port. Has it been enabled, or is it installed?
• Then, check the parallel port's printer mode. If your parallel port is in ECP (extended capability port) setting, we recommend you try a different setting.

Other devices with parallel connections

Suppose you use parallel printers with other parallel devices, such as scanners. In that case, you should temporarily unplug the devices to ensure they're not causing issues with your printer.
