I know that you know, my grandma, however, didn't.
Or didn't remember - lamentably, she's had a few heart attacks since we last spent time together.
The Russian letters are, also lamentably, problematic for me. If it's a lot (like the above entry) I just type it all out in translit, but if it's only a couple of lines...
At risk of being mis- or not understood, I answer in English. Not because I like it better than Russian - not at all! English has many shortfalls, Russian is decidedly more colorful and expressive, but habit determines entirely too much in my life.
I've yet to develop a habit to type in Russian.. and I've also yet to acquire a Russian keyboard - all of mine are qwerty.
Come to think of it, it's the keyboard complications that cause me to maintain such poor contact with my Russian friends and speak more Dutch than German (Dutch doesn't have any "funny" letters and fewer umlauts).
Gar, I feel rather silly now.

*big giant hug*
Tear them up indeed we did =) On the brighter side of everything, we haven't made it this far in a major tournament since communism - the progress alone and the great football we've shown is much to be proud of.
Awesome that you're in Odessa - always wanted to go there, yet never did.
Have fun, take lots of pictures =)
It's cool) And one more interesting link about Moscow skyscrapers nevertheless: http://www.federationtower.ru/
Click on different years at the main page.
the old houses are wonderful... I really rather miss them. Much of LA and America in general is composed of pre-fabricated houses and... well, basically single-family or multi-unit khruschevkas.
I'll also have to see all the metro stations built since I left!
<-- excited
Karts? I wish!

2. Yes, indeed! but Ibrahimovich is the reason they've un-retired Larsson - they're a "matching set", which sort of makes sense since Larsson on his own (or in conjunction with Rosenberg, or Kallstrom - whom he's played plenty with) didn't manage a whole lot of anything.
3. Yaaay! Anything in Moscow I absolutely have to see? I quit smoking and drinking years ago, but I still like to run around and gawk at things.

Oh, the Croats? *reaches into the tivo box* drat, I have their matches on cue, I haven't watched them yet, I don't think.
The Portuguese are good, who's to say they aren't, I'm just not in favor of gushing about them 'round the clock the way ESPN does.
I kind of like the Dutch.
Italy, yes, they have this inexplicable penchant for starting out very slow in major events - I'm not discounting them just yet.
Do you know what happened to our team, though? I've been out of the loop, but I really, really hope they come back.

I wouldn't kill myself - no.
I've lost a few people, I know how hard it is to lose even those I didn't think I liked and - to think - some people out there actually think fondly of me.
A death of someone you have known reminds you of everything people normally try not to think about..
I wouldn't want this for anyone.
Besides, I've thought about it, and I'm pretty sure I'd be more trouble dead than alive - I require very few resources for sustenance, while burials lately have been a very fussy affair.
And lastly, death is such an easy way out, it'd be so unlike me.
I'd hate the last thing I do to be so out of character, you know? ;)

"somehow by being in Moscow"?
Thank you.. though I do have family there and stuff.
I love them dearly. I don't know if any of this *can be* helped.
ahh.. I'm going to have more tea and write something, that ought to get take my mind off things I cannot help.
I'm working on this ridiculous tart of a story. I planned it as a one-shot, but it will probably balloon into three or four chapters.

There wouldn't be too much confidential info in a letter like that.
After all, it's only my grandma - not the president, not head of the security, not even my first love or something..
