1. Why laptop screen become pink

Pink Screen problem is related to the Graphics Card of laptop or you can say VGA card. Coloring of the screen is comprised of three basic colors which are called RGB (Red – Green – Blue). Other colors are formed with the mixing of these three basic colors and are this way hundreds of colors are formed and shown on our laptop display screen. The screen color of your laptop is become pink due to the maximizing of Red color among these 3 basic colors. In this situation, Red reached at its maximum level, green goes below than middle and blue almost at its maximum.  I am showing you a picture below from which you can clearly understand this.

2. Causes of Pink Screen

You all know that Laptop is consists of two things which are Hardware and Software. Hardware is the physical parts of a laptop while the software is Operating systems (Windows) or device drivers of every device used in laptop-like Graphics Card, Sound Card, etc. So there can be different causes of the pink screen like:

• Damaged Screen
• Loose Wiring
• Connectivity problem between screen and other parts
• Damaged Back-lights behind the screen

3. How to fix Pink Screen problem

3.1 Identify the problem area:

First step to fix this pink screen problem is to identify that pink screen is due to hardware fault or due to some software issue.

If you are using a laptop screen only then, first of all, take an external monitor and connect it with your laptop by using HDMI cable or very common VGA cable.

Now, look at that external monitor. If everything is OK there and no such pink screen appears on the external monitor that means issue is related to screen hardware. The screen of a laptop can be damaged or the back-light of the screen can be a problem.

On the other hand, if the pink screen remains consistent on an external monitor then it’s a software problem, not hardware. The screen of your laptop is fine and doesn’t require any repair.

3.2 Hardware Fix:

In the case of a hardware problem, as per my suggestion, you must go to the market or Laptop Company if your laptop is still under warranty, with your laptop for repair or change of faulty screen. If you try to does something by yourself than it can cause more damage to your laptop.

Still, if you want to try some tasks than you can do the following.

Blower your laptop to remove any dust especially on the screen. If possible for you and you have some expertise that you can open the laptop body or only the screen frame then it will be better.

Restart Your Laptop: It might be that your laptop is having a bad day or a program or background process is messing with the display. Restarting your laptop clears everything and might solve the pink screen problem. If the problem remains to persist than you can try some other options.

Faulty Cable or LCD-LED: The cause of a pink screen might be a faulty display cable or LCD. If so than it is a big problem. In this case, the only best option for you is consult with a laptop company or any hardware expert in the local market because the cable can be required to change or even complete screen that can be required to change. In any of these, as I think, none of your cans does this because of the expertise and availability of tools that are needed to open the laptop or change these parts.

3.3 Software Fix:

If it is found in external monitor test that pink screen problem in your laptop is related to software but not hardware then I make your work simpler. Pink screen problems are mainly occurred due to Graphics Card (VGA) driver.

First reason could be the outdated graphics card driver. Updating your graphics card drivers can solve the problem.

Now I told you the procedure with all steps to update the graphics card driver of your laptop in the Windows Operating system.

• Open Device Manager (In Windows 10 and 8, a shortcut for device manager is Windows+X)

• Head over to your Display adapters and expand it.
• Right-click the displays drivers and Update Driver.

• A dialog box will open. Proceed to choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
• Follow the instructions until the driver has been successfully installed.
• Restart your laptop.

If it is not able to find any driver you have to go to your laptop’s manufacturer’s website and manually download the driver from there. Most manufacturer websites have a “downloads” or ‘update drivers” section. Download the latest driver for your video or display card and proceed to run it. Restart your laptop.

After doing all the above, if the problem persists it might be that the current or latest driver is what is causing it. Download the previous version of the display adapter to solve the problem. Proceed to go to the manufacturer’s website. Find the previous display driver and download it. Open and run the driver. Restart your laptop to see if the problem still persists.

Some laptops come with a software called “True Color”. This program can also create problems. By simply disabling this true color software, Pink Screen issue can be resolved.
