Avocado is an exotic evergreen plant. Many lovers of floriculture know that it is not easy to grow avocados at home, and even more so to wait for the harvest. Its unique taste fruits could please more than one florist. But, unfortunately, avocados with fruits at home are rather an exception to the rule. Although not always plant an orange or persimmon seed, hoping for a quick result. You can wait more than one year, hope and at the same time enjoy a fruit bush or tree.
With a strong desire, you can plant an avocado seed and patiently follow all the necessary rules for growing and caring. What if your dream comes true and you wait at your home for the harvest?
To grow this unusual overseas plant, you will need a ripe avocado fruit. Only the bone of such a fruit has a great chance of germination. This process can be carried out in two ways:
The first method (closed) is usual and simple. Avocado seeds should be stuck into the soil with a wide underside to a shallow depth (about 2 centimeters). When creating favorable conditions, it should germinate in about 30 days.
The second method (open) is interesting and even, one might say, exotic.
The bone before planting in the ground must be germinated in water in a suspended position. First, it needs to be thoroughly washed and cleaned. Then, approximately in the middle of the bone along the circumference line, you need to carefully drill three or four holes, into which you then need to insert thin wooden sticks (for example, matches or toothpicks). They will act as a support when the wide lower part of the bone is lowered into a container with water. These sticks, like retainers, will keep the bone at the required height. The main thing is to constantly monitor the amount of water in the container. The lower part of the bone should always be in the water.
Instead of water for germination of avocado seeds, you can use special polymer granules(hydrogel). This polymeric material can retain a large amount of water for a long time. In this method, it is very convenient, you do not need to monitor the level.
It will take only 20-30 days, and the first young roots will appear, and then the sprout. The bone will be ready for planting in the ground when the length of the roots reaches 4 centimeters.
To begin with, you will need a small flower pot with large holes. The earth should not be dense. It needs to be loosened well to ensure the necessary air and moisture exchange. The bone is planted in the soil so that two-thirds of its part is on the surface of the soil. There is no need to remove the shell on the bone.
Avocado is a light-loving plant, but penumbra is also suitable for it. That's from direct sunlight it needs to be protected. If in your house or apartment there is a room with west-facing windows, then such a window sill will be the perfect place for this fruit.
Temperature
Since avocados are native to the tropics, it naturally loves warmth. In the case of a sharp decrease in temperature or the slightest draft, the plant will begin to show its discontent - all the leaves will immediately fall. Therefore, even in warm summer weather, it is undesirable to take it outside.
And in the room, too, a constant temperature should be maintained. In the warm season, the high room temperature will be favorable for avocados, but in the cold winter time it will be enough 20 degrees Celsius.
The plant also has a period of rest in winter. If in winter the temperature drops to 12 degrees in the room, then the avocado will immediately react - the leaves will drop and switch to the "hibernation" mode. But with proper care and a constant temperature balance, this cannot happen. This tropical plant is considered evergreen.
Watering avocados in conditions of home maintenance should be regularly and abundantly, but taking into account the temperature indicators and the time of year. Excessive watering can be harmful. In summer it is watered more often than in winter. After the top layer of soil dries, it should take another couple of days before you start watering the plant. Immediately only its upper part dries up, and inside the pot for about two more days there is moisture necessary for avocados.
Air moisture
Humidity is also of great importance. The room is almost always dry air, and this is very harmful to this plant. Daily spraying will help solve the problem. It is very important that during such water procedures only the air near the avocado is humidified, but not the plant itself. Even small droplets should not fall on its leaves.
There is another way of moisturizing - this is a special tray for a pot with moistened expanded clay.
Fertilizing and fertilizers
From September to March, the plant does not need fertilizing. But the rest of the time, once a month, avocado must be fed with fertilizer recommended for citrus or any other complex top dressing.
In nature, avocados grow up to 20 meters in height. Although at home it will not reach such heights, but it grows quite actively and requires frequent transplantation. Very soon the first small pot will be small for him. As soon as the tree grows to 15 centimeters, it's time to transplant it into a large container. At a young age, avocados are transplanted every year, and in the future you can once every three years.
Of great importance for the development and growth of the plant is the land in which it grows. Specifically for avocados need any loose and light earth, but not acidic. In such soil it would be good to add wood ash or dolomite flour.
Transplanting the plant into a new pot, use the method of transshipment. Carefully carry the tree along with a lump of earth.
You can prepare a soil mixture useful for avocados yourself. To do this, you will need: peat (or humus), garden land and coarse river sand. All components need to be mixed in equal parts.
This tropical plant at home may well become a decorative decoration of the room. However, this will require a little experience in floriculture. For example, you can grow several plants from avocado seeds and plant them all together in one flower pot. And while the plants are young and flexible, you can intertwine their stems with a pigtail.
So that the plant does not stretch in height, but acquires splengness in the form of side shoots, it must be pinched. This procedure can be carried out only when there is a sufficient number of leaves on the tree (at least eight). First, pinch the top of the plant, this contributes to the development of side branches. And after they are sufficiently formed and get their leaves, you can pinch them.
Pruning is carried out in early spring. It is necessary to improve the growth and development of the plant, as well as to form the crown you need. It can be completely different. It all depends on the imagination of the florist.
Avocados, like all houseplants, are afraid of the same pests - shield and spider mite. The voracious spider mite is able not only to destroy all the leaves on the plant, but also can transfer various diseases to other indoor flowers. The shield feeds on the juice of plants. After its appearance, only dry leaves remain. You can fight such pests with various folk methods or insecticidal drugs.
Among the diseases, the main danger to avocados is powdery mildew.
In the process of cultivation, other problems may arise:
The tips of the leaves dry. Reasons - the rules of watering (lack of moisture), insufficient humidity of the air are not observed. It is necessary to establish regular watering (only after drying the upper layer of the earth) and humidify the air in the room with the help of spraying.
The leaves fall. The reasons are drafts and a decrease in air temperature in the apartment. It is necessary to maintain an optimal temperature regime in the room and prevent drafts.
Pale leaves. The reasons are lack of lighting. It is necessary to find a suitable place for the plant or organize additional (artificial) lighting, especially in winter.
An important fruit crop.The fruits of the plant are also called avocados:their flesh is rich in vitamins and important minerals. In addition to fruits, wood is used, which goes to the manufacture of furniture and is used as a building material. Earlier in the Russian language, the names of the alligator pear[4] and agcat[5]were also used to refer to this plant.

10 most heart-healthy shopping in the supermarket
October 10, 2021
Diseases of the heart and blood vessels have been the most common cause of death in many countries of the world for more than a decade. Russia, unfortunately, is no exception to this list. That is why in this article we will acquaint you with the 10 most heart-healthy products that you can buy in any supermarket.
Their introduction into the diet will be a good measure for the prevention of many ailments, and their regular use will reduce the risk of developing ischemia and atherosclerosis - the most common causes of diseases of the cardiovascular system.
Oily fish - no atherosclerosis
Statistics indicate an interesting fact - Eskimos very rarely suffer from pathologies of the cardiovascular system. Why? The answer to this question is simple: they regularly eat a lot of fatty fish. It contains well-known polyunsaturated acids - Omega-3. They are an excellent prophylactic against atherosclerosis - the culprit of many diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
Omega-3s are not synthesized in the body and therefore belong to the indispensable components that come to us only with food. Their effectiveness in the fight against strokes and coronary heart disease has been proven by many studies.
Omega-3s have the following actions:
cardioprotective;
normalizing lipid metabolism;
improving the composition and microcirculation of blood;
antiarrhythmic;
antihypertensive;
Disinfecting.
Cardiologists around the world prescribe Omega-3 in the form of drugs for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, hypertensive and coronary heart disease, strokes and other diseases of the heart and blood vessels. The main source of these acids in food is fish oil.
The leaders in the content of Omega-3 are the following types of fish:
semga;
sardines;
herring;
hamsa;
smelt;
salmon;
тунец;
макрель;
скумбрия.
Doctors strongly recommend including fatty fish in the diet 2 times a week. Especially important is the sufficient consumption of foods with omega-3 for people with a predisposition to pathologies of the heart and blood vessels, diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease. Even more benefits will bring omega-6 fatty acids, which are contained, for example, in the fat of Antarctic krill.
Grapefruit – glycosides for the heart and blood vessels
The composition of this citrus includes a whole complex of vitamins (C, P, A, D, B1 and B2), potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and other minerals, a large amount of plant fiber and glycosides. One fruit contains half the daily rate of vitamin C, which supports the vessels and protects them from the action of free radicals. And the glycosides in it prevent the development of atherosclerosis and contribute to the stabilization of activity and heart rhythm.
The use of one grapefruit per day contributes to:
lowering cholesterol and triglycerides;
prevention of arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis;
the fight against excess weight;
normalizes glucose metabolism and reduces the need for insulin.
Scientists suggest that grapefruits of red varieties are more useful for the heart. It is possible that it is in red fruits that substances that are still unknown to science that have a beneficial effect on the level of lipids in the blood are also useful. According to scientists, grapefruit fresh and fresh fruit are equally useful.
Avocado - piggy bank of potassium and Omega-3
In addition to omega-3, avocado contains a lot of potassium useful for the activity of the heart. In addition, these small fruits contain many other useful substances: vitamins C, PP, B6, B2 and E, folic acid, provitamin A, dietary fiber, magnesium, copper, phosphorus and many other mineral components.
Regular inclusion of avocado in the menu contributes to:
prevention of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases;
reducing the level of "harmful" cholesterol;
increase of stress resistance;
lowering blood pressure;
normalization of water-salt balance;
improving blood composition;
increased immunity.
Nutritionists and cardiologists recommend introducing this fruit into your diet in moderation, because its caloric content is very high. Despite this fact, avocado can be a good substitute for such heart-bad foods as mayonnaise and oil. Salads, pastes for sandwiches and sauces for dressing main courses and salads can be prepared from this fruit. Nutritionists advise buying only ripe avocado fruits, because immature contains much less useful substances.
Flaxseed Oil – An Affordable Source of Omega-3
The main value of flaxseed oil is the high content of omega-3. It is in this vegetable oil that the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids is the highest. Because of its significant caloric content, nutritionists recommend consuming this product in moderation - no more than 2 tablespoons per day.
According to experts, flaxseed oil is similar in strength to fish oil. Due to the high level of Omega-3, it prevents the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, reduces the level of "harmful" cholesterol and prevents the formation and settling of blood clots in the lumen of blood vessels.
For the prevention of diseases of the cardiovascular system, it is recommended to use refined flaxseed oil. It should have a greenish-yellow color, a mild smell and taste, be transparent, clean and without sediment. For treatment, flaxseed oil should be bought in pharmacies or well-established supermarkets, because its cosmetic analogues, fakes and surrogates can be harmful to health.
Garlic - a blow to hypertension
Numerous studies confirm that garlic is one of the best prophylactics against arterial hypertension, and its regular use helps to reduce blood pressure by 7-8%. Such an antihypertensive effect is contained in it hydrogen sulfide and nitric oxide.
Regular consumption of garlic - about 1 clove per day - contributes to blood thinning. Improving its fluidity, garlic reduces the load on the vessels and prevents the formation of blood clots on their walls.
According to some scientists, the use of garlic can reduce the level of "bad" cholesterol, but a number of other experts refute this statement. However, this food product is able to prevent the oxidation of cholesterol by free radicals, which means that the risk of its settling on the vascular walls in the form of plaques can be significantly reduced. This means that garlic is a good means of preventing atherosclerosis, which plays its sad and significant role in the development of hypertensive pain. Ezni and many other pathologies of the cardiovascular system.
Whole grain cereals - a counterbalance to atherosclerosis
Cardiologists recommend that those suffering from diseases of the cardiovascular system and healthy people replace such a familiar white bread with whole grain cereals. It is in these cultures that a large amount of fiber is contained, which slows down the absorption of "harmful" cholesterol that enters the body along with other foods.
In the process of processing, cereals lose most of their dietary fiber and that is why experts recommend eating them unprocessed. Indispensable support for the heart and blood vessels can be provided by such whole grain crops as barley, oats, corn, unpolished brown rice and millet. Their regular use will be an excellent prevention of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
Cocoa beans – a treat for the heart
Moderate consumption of dark chocolate is good for the heart.
Most scientists claim that bitter chocolate, containing at least 70% cocoa beans and a minimum amount of sugar, is good for the heart. This beloved food contains a large amount of polyphenols and flavonoids. Thanks to these substances, the use of dark chocolate leads to blood thinning and reducing the load on the myocardium, preventing blood clots, eliminating arterial hypertension, lowering cholesterol and slowing the hardening of the vascular walls. .
In addition to these heart-healthy properties, dark chocolate helps eliminate depression and reduces the stress hormone. These conditions are the cause of many cardiovascular diseases.
Experts recommend to observe moderation when using this high-calorie delicacy for the prevention of pathologies of the heart and blood vessels. No more than 20-30 g of dark chocolate should be eaten per day.
Berries are an inexhaustible source of nutrients for the heart and blood vessels
The season of fresh berries is short-lived in many countries, but after its end in supermarkets you can always buy frozen berries, in which all useful components are preserved by 90-95%. Many fruits are useful for the heart, but according to many experts, forest berries have a particularly beneficial effect on its work. They are an inexhaustible source of potassium, ascorbic acid, flavonoids, pectin, anthocyanins, magnesium and fiber.
Regular introduction into the diet of strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, blueberries, viburnum, raspberries, red and black currants helps to slow down the hardening of the coronary and other arteries, more rapid removal of "harmful" cholesterol and blood thinning. Their frequent use will be a good and pleasant measure for the prevention of coronary heart disease, arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis.
Mushrooms - a storehouse of antioxidants for the heart
According to many studies, most mushrooms that can be eaten contain the powerful antioxidant ergodianin. It is able to neutralize many free radicals and prevents the development of not only heart and vascular diseases, but also reduces the risk of cancerous tumors. Studies prove that the regular inclusion in your diet of mushroom dishes helps prevent many heart ailments.
Mushrooms, unlike meat, do not contain cholesterol and contain a lot of selenium, carbohydrates and fiber. This fact makes them an indispensable dish in the diet of people who need to prevent vascular and heart diseases.
In Russia, white mushrooms have always been considered heart healers. They include the alkaloid hercithin, used to treat coronary heart disease and its consequences. From them prepared tinctures that were used to treat the cores. This means that eating white mushrooms can be a good preventive measure to prevent the development of heart pathologies.
Red wine – an elixir of antioxidants and flavonoids for the heart
A glass of red wine a day reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
About the benefits and harms of red wine, medical disputes have been going on for a long time. Scientists were able to isolate about 600 substances from it, but this is not all the components of an alcoholic beverage. Interest around red wine arose due to statistics that the French, who daily consume it before eating, are much less likely to suffer from heart and vascular diseases than residents of Europe and the United States.
Many experts who study the properties of red wine, came to the conclusion - moderate consumption of this drink (but only dry and natural), contributes to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Studies confirm that under its influence there is an increase in the level of nitrogen in the blood, leading to vasodilation and a decrease in the upper and lower blood pressure. This property of the drink with its reasonable consumption helps to reduce the risk of stroke by 2 0%, and heart ailments - by 15%.
Dry red wine contains a large amount of antioxidants. After taking it, their amount in the blood rises after 30 minutes and persists for 4 hours. These compounds prevent damage to blood vessels by free radicals. In addition, the substances in this drink help reduce the level of endophelin protein, a high level of which provokes the development of atherosclerosis and other vascular pathologies.
The composition of red wine includes procyanides. They, like antioxidants, are extremely useful for blood vessels and the heart. Due to their effects, the risk of developing the following pathologies is reduced:
myocardial infarction;
insufficiency of coronary blood flow;
atherosclerosis;
arterial hypertension.
Tannin, located in the seeds, peels and peduncles of grapes, gives blood vessels elasticity and strengthens them, and saponins and kakhetin remove "harmful" cholesterol, leading to the formation of atherosclerotic plaques.
Experts warn that it is possible to take red wine for the prevention of heart and vascular diseases only for healthy people and those who have no contraindications to its reception. Refrain from its use should be in diseases of the digestive system, allergic reactions, asthma, migraine-like headache attacks, alcoholism and neuropsychiatric disorders.
Patients with diseases of the heart and blood vessels taking this drink can be recommended only by a cardiologist during remission. And for such treatment, only dry vintage wines can be used, and their dose should be strictly limited - no more than 50-100 ml per day.
By including these 10 heart-healthy foods in your diet, you can reduce your risk of developing many heart diseases and their main culprit – atherosclerosis. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the existing contraindications to the use of some of them and observe moderation.
To do this, do not drink coffee or tea, do not eat foods rich in calcium, or drinks with iron.
Calcium itself can interfere with iron absorption.
To improve the effect, eat foods with a good source of vitamin C, such as orange juice, broccoli or strawberries.
Also eat non-heme foods with meat, fish and poultry.
If you're having trouble getting enough iron from food sources, you may need an iron supplement. But first, talk to your doctor about the correct dosage and follow their instructions carefully.

Why does our body need iron and how to get it from food
October 14, 2021
Iron is a mineral essential for life. It plays a key role in the creation of red blood cells. If the body lacks iron, then anemia, a low level of red blood cells, may develop. Red blood cells are the transport system that carries oxygen from your lungs to the rest of the body. When a person has anemia, the body lacks these cells.
Remember that everyone needs iron to produce hemoglobin, a protein that helps red blood cells carry oxygen. A person can get iron from food and supplements. So, we have collected materials about the effect of iron on the body, in what products it is contained and everything related to this topic. We share useful information with you.
Who needs iron the most
Iron supplements are most commonly used for certain types of anemia. This disease can cause fatigue and other symptoms. Iron is often prescribed for the treatment of anemia caused by: pregnancy, kidney disease, heavy menstrual periods, chemotherapy. There is a certain group of people who are at risk of iron deficiency:
premature babies
young children
teenage girls
pregnant women
people with certain medical conditions, including chronic heart failure, Crohn's disease, celiac disease, and ulcerative colitis.
Iron supplements are most often recommended for women who are pregnant or of reproductive age to prevent anemia. In any case, before buying iron supplements, you need to consult a therapist.
Signs of anemia and iron deficiency in the body
Mild iron deficiency anemia is often not noticeable. As it becomes more severe, you may have symptoms like this:
fatigue or weakness
pale or yellow skin
confused breathing
vertigo
Headaches
fast heartbeat
chest pain
cold feet and hands
brittle, cracked nails and hair loss
craving things that are not food, such as dirt, starch, clay or ice
sore and swollen tongue
restless legs syndrome (desire to move legs in bed)
Since these signs can also be symptoms of other conditions and illnesses, see your doctor to get an accurate diagnosis.
How iron deficiency is diagnosed
Your doctor will perform one or more blood tests to see if you have iron deficiency anemia. These can be such tests:
A complete blood test – checks how many red blood cells you have.
Peripheral blood smear – shows the size and shape of your red blood cells. With iron deficiency anemia, red blood cells are smaller than usual.
Hematocrit – this test shows how many red blood cells are in the blood.
Hemoglobin. This test shows the amount of this protein in the blood. If you have anemia, then hemoglobin will be low.
A test to determine the amount of iron in your blood.
Ferritin – shows how much iron is stored in the body by measuring this protein.
If blood tests show you have iron deficiency anemia, you may need other tests, similar, to understand what is causing it. The following procedures can be performed:
Endoscopy. The doctor uses a tube with a camera at one end to look inside the esophagus or colon. Endoscopy can detect bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract from ulcers, polyps, or other neoplasms.
Ultrasound of the pelvic organs or biopsy of the uterus.
Blood test in the stool. This test looks for a small amount of blood in your stool to check for cancer and other causes of bleeding in your intestines.
What can be the treatment of iron deficiency
To treat iron deficiency anemia, you will take iron supplements. Most people drink 150 to 200 mg every day. Your doctor will recommend a dose based on your iron levels. Also, most likely, you will have to take vitamin C. This helps the body absorb iron. You may have to drink iron supplements for a few months or more to bring your levels back to normal.
If your gut doesn't absorb iron well, you may be prescribed to inject iron directly into your bloodstream through an intravenous tube. Remember that the symptoms of iron deficiency should disappear in about a week. The doctor will check the blood to see if the anemia has improved. If supplements and a balanced diet filled with iron don't help with your symptoms or you have severe anemia, then red blood cell transfusions may be needed.
Daily iron rate for different age categories
If you are not in any of the above groups, you should still get iron every day from your diet or supplements. So, below is a table with the daily rate of iron for different gender and age categories:
Vegetarians and vegans may consume more iron. Remember that in large doses, iron is toxic. For adults and children aged 14 years and older, the highest dose that can be safely taken is 45 mg per day. Children under 14 years of age should not take more than 40 mg per day.
The negative side of iron consumption
Side effects. Taken in normal doses, iron supplements can cause upset stomach, stool changes, and constipation.
Risks. Do not start taking iron supplements without a doctor's prescription. This is especially important if you have a chronic illness. Women who are planning to become pregnant should also consult a gynecologist before starting daily iron supplements.
Interaction. Iron can interact with many different drugs and supplements. These include antacids and inhibitors, some antibiotics, calcium. Make sure your doctor is aware of all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you are taking if he suggests drinking iron supplements.
Overdose. This often occurs in children, manifests itself as poisoning. Signs of iron overdose include severe vomiting and diarrhea, stomach cramps, pale or bluish skin and nails, and weakness. Treat these signs as a medical emergency.
Getting iron from food
You can also get iron from your diet by eating more of these foods:
Beef, pork, liver, chicken, turkey, duck and shellfish.
Leafy greens such as broccoli, spinach, cabbage, turnip greens and cabbage greens
Peas, legumes.
Iron-enriched cereals and other cereals.
Dried fruits such as prunes and raisins.
Iron from animal sources is better absorbed by the body. However, you can help it absorb plant-based iron by eating fruits or vegetables high in vitamin C, such as red peppers, kiwi, oranges.
How Your Body Gets Iron from Food
When you eat iron-containing foods, iron is absorbed mainly through the upper part of the small intestine. There are two forms of dietary iron: heme and non-heme. Heme iron comes from hemoglobin. It is found in animal products that originally contained hemoglobin, such as red meat, fish, and poultry (meat, poultry, and seafood contain both heme and non-heme iron). The body absorbs the most iron from heme sources. Most of the non-heme iron is plant sources.
Foods rich in iron
Hem sources
Very good sources of heme iron, 3.5 mg or more per serving, include: 100 g of beef or chicken liver, shellfish, mussels, oysters.
Good sources of heme iron, with 2.1 mg or more per serving, include: 100 g of boiled beef, canned sardines.
Other sources of hem iron, with 0.6 mg or more per serving, include: 100 g of chicken, boiled turkey, ham, veal.
Other sources of hem iron, with 0.3 mg or more per serving, include: 100 g of halibut, haddock, perch, salmon or tuna.
Non-heme sources
Very good sources of non-heme iron, 3.5 mg or more per serving, include:
breakfast cereals enriched with iron
one cup of boiled beans
half a cup of tofu
Good sources of non-heme iron, with 2.1 mg or more per serving, include:
Not everyone pays due attention to the diet, and it is very important, because biorhythms and lifestyle directly affect mental and physical health at any age.
That is why the menu of larks and ovs should be different.
If you easily wake up at 7 am, and at 22-23 you are already asleep, then you are a lark.

Increased heartbeat: reasons, what to do and what to look for
October 14, 2021
The term "increased heartbeat" combines a variety of complaints about unpleasant sensations in the chest, which the patients themselves can also call beats, shocks, interruptions, etc. Patients may complain of palpitations both with rhythm and conduction disorders of the heart, and with other diseases. In some cases, the heartbeat is a symptom of life-threatening arrhythmias, so with such complaints, a thorough examination is required.
Often the heartbeat is caused by emotional and physical exertion. With fever, there is also an increase in pulse. If the heartbeat is not caused by these reasons, then arrhythmia should be suspected.
