13.42 The men are back in force with faultless displays. Browne pulls of an incredible culo, whilst Akgazciyan sails the majority of the heat switch stance. Thode looks so relaxed as he leaps into a one-handed funnell, taking time to wave to the crowd.
13.34 Offringa has just pulled of an incredible shaka straight in front of the judges. She still looks like the one to beat. Nagoshi is sailing very well with a perfect flaka on both tacks. Offringa has just claimed a dry switch-chacho. Alonso has picked up the pace with a beautiful combination of moves, but Offringa really does look like the dominant force here
13.33 Iballa Moreno faces Junko Nagoshi, whilst Nayra Alonso is against reigning world champion Quita Offringa.
13.32 Treboux and Moreno advance
13.28 A puneta from Treboux looks good, whilst a clue first spock by Diada on the outside impresses. The head ends, after a fantastic heat by the girls. This year really looks good for womens' freestyle.
13.24 Spanish competitors D Ruano Moreno and Orozco have really pushed the boundaries of the womens event with perfect shakas, flakas and spocks. The Swiss star Treboux is sailing brilliantly with consistent moves, however, as it stands it is the Spaniards that impress.
13.21 Unbelievable. The standard here amongst the men has reached a whole new level. The introduction of waves into the heats. Stay with us now as we go through the second round of the women.
13.19 Estredo finds a huge ramp and pulls of a perfect air chacho. De Souza pulls of a high cono in the shallows, as Ruenes comes out of a chacho.
13.18 Tonky Frans gets through the last heat, we are still waiting on the second result.
