Since intravenous therapy is integrated into the practical nursing program, graduates are prepared for employment as IV-certified licensed practical nurses immediately after graduation and satisfactory completion of the State Board of Nursing requirements for licensure.
Depending on the desired degree program, the institute may request an official transcript documenting proof of high school graduation, Skilled Nursing St. Louis California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE), or successful completion of the General Education Development (GED) Examination.



Because experienced licensed practical nurses have already learned the basics of patient care covered at the beginning of an RN training program, some schools offer LPN to RN bridge programs that allow LPNs to bypass certain coursework to become registered nurses in a shorter amount of time.
