Living the Life of a Philanthropist

Пятница, 18 Февраля 2022 г. 23:44 + в цитатник

What exactly do you consider of whenever you hear the word "philanthropist"? Many people often genuinely believe that a philanthropist is anyone who has so much money, that giving a portion of it away makes little difference with their overall wealth, and therefore requires little thought..

A philanthropist , by definition, is: "one who makes an active effort to market human welfare" And, whilst it's true that some of the most famous philanthropists were, and are, incredibly wealthy, their philanthropic efforts usually are a reflection of these general philosophy on life. The donation of money is just one of the ways they can satisfy an interest for improving the lives of others.

Many moguls of industry, past and present.. Henry Ford (one of the very most influential philanthropists from the past) and Bill Gates and Richard Branson (to name but several modern day philanthropists), spend a considerable amount of the time devoting themselves to charitable foundations and trusts they have established in their own names. Sports stars, pop stars and movie stars also often use their fame and influence to sponsor events which raise funds for national and international charitable causes.

For all decades, the ability of instant communication, first through TV and later via the web, has increased the awareness of all of us with regard to the plight of many and various sets of underprivileged and needy members of society. Where appeals to the sense of moral obligation fail, tax reductions, for people making charitable donations, are the main Income Tax systems of many Western countries.

Helping others, by getting a cause and supporting it, do not need to be restricted to the wealthiest members of society. Many individuals, of very average means, make it part of their financial plan to donate a percentage of the annual income to worthy causes. Finding an organization, a residential area or a person that fits our, sometimes very subjective, definitions of 'need' is often as simple as looking up local charities and involving ourselves personally in their fund raising efforts.
