Soldaten der Gebirgsjägerbrigade 23 nahmen auf dem österreichischen Truppenübungsplatz Walchen-Lizum bei Innsbruck an der Übung „Edelweiß“ teil. Zusammen mit österreichischen und französischen Gebirgsjägern übten sie den Kampf im Hochgebirge. Fallschirmjäger des Fallschirmjägerregiments 26 sichern während einer Evakuierung (NEO - Non Military Extraction Operation) am 25.06.2015 den Aufnahmeort.
Dabei kommen auch schwere Waffen wie die Granatmaschinenwaffe (GraMaWa) zum Einsatz. Ein Transporthubschrauber NH90-TTH der italienischen Heeresflieger befindet sich im Landeanflug, um eine weitere Gruppe von Flüchtlingen aufzunehmen.
