Аннотация:
С помощью методов оптической спектроскопии, стационарного и наносекундного лазерного импульсного фотолиза исследованы продукты фотохимических реакций 1-(N-4'-гидроксифенил-3,3',5'-тритрет-бутил)-5-этилсалициловой кислоты (I). Методом частичного дейтерирования молекул, показано, что они находятся как в несвязанном состоянии, так и в виде комплексов с внутри- и межмолекулярной водородной связью. Фотолизу подвергаются свободные фенольные группы амида I, что приводит к образованию феноксильных радикалов, которые гибнут в реакциях рекомбинации (kрек2,3.108 л.моль-1.с-1); образования радикальных продуктов за счет гомолитического разрушения N-H-связи не установлено.

Аннотация:
The subject of the research is the efficiency of the use of a number of amides of higher carbonic acids as a polyfunctional addition to mineral oils. The thickening effect is studied as a function of the temperature, concentration and nature of surface active substances. The influence of soluble water on the toughness of the composition is examined. In a number of cases the protective effect of amides mounts to 100%. The presence of soluble water is of no considerable influence.

Abstract:
How easy it is to dismiss the humdrum surfactant! After all, its structure is unglamorous by present-day norms. And the surfactant has been entrenched in so many areas of commerce for so many decades that its chemistry might seem old and tired. The purpose of this review is to persuade the reader otherwise, all the while focusing on a remarkable new surfactant, the gemini. Geminis, the common name for “bis-surfactants”, can self-assemble at concentrations almost a hundredfold lower than for corresponding conventional surfactants. Surface activity can be improved a thousandfold. Geminis have already shown promise in skin care, antibacterial regimens, construction of high-porosity materials, analytical separations, and solubilization processes. Scores of patents dealing with geminis have appeared in the last few years. Indeed, geminis might well turn out, in the opinion of some, to be more useful to “l'homme de la rue” than crown ethers or fullerenes. This review delves into such topics as synthesis, critical micellization concentration, aggregate size and shape, gels, vesicles, and films. The information comes from scientists all over the world; one might say that gemini research is bathed in a continuous sunlight or summer. No prior knowledge of colloid chemistry is presupposed in this article.

Abstract:
Over 40 natural or synthetic lipophilic compounds were screened for antimicrobial activity. Gram (+) bacteria and yeasts but not Gram (−) bacteria were affected by these agents. Epimino and selena fatty acids are more active than their corresponding straight chain unsubstituted fatty acids. The position of selenium influenced the antimicrobial activity of the fatty acid. The presence and position of a double or triple bond, usually an important factor in long chain fatty acids (>C14) had little or no effect in C11 fatty acids. Optimum antimicrobial activity was found for fatty acids and their corresponding monoglycerides when the chain length was C12. The dilaurin derivative was not active.

Abstract:
A method has been developed for the analysis of isomeric monoglycerides by thin-layer adsorption chromatography. Isomeric monoglycerides are separated on silica gel impregnated with boric acid; a mixed solvent system is used. The interaction of hydroxy compounds with boric acid allows the separation of 1- and 2-monoglycerides which cannot be resolved on silica gel alone. In order to make the method quantitative, the resolved components are charred and their spot densities measured. Glycerol, fatty acids, diglycerides, and triglycerides do not interfere. The method does not induce isomerization.

Hard distilled monoglyceride either alone or in combination with other modifiers in a ground-up condition is mixed with wheat starch or other dry particles and the mixture reduced to an impalpable powder in a fluid energy impact type of mill to an average fineness of less than 10 microns. In this process the starch or other dry particles become coated or smeared with a film of the monoglyceride. The preferred material is 50 percent distilled monoglyceride and 50 percent wheat starch or wheat flour. Fifty percent of monoglyceride used in this way is superior to 100 percent finely ground monoglyceride produced in the same fashion. About 1 percent of the preferred product is used in a standard bread formula to each 100 lbs. of flour.
