Старинный туалет. Ночные горшки и унитазы.

    





Родоначальником унитазов можно считать ночную вазу из фарфора, или обычный стул с вырезанным отверстием.

Говорят, что первый проект туалета со смывом, предназначавшегося королю Франсуа I, принадлежит Леонардо да Винчи. Однако, как и большинство его изобретений , этот туалет остался лишь на бумаге. Опять же- есть сведения, что именно Франсуа I ввел в моду королевские приемы на горшке.

Первый ватер-клозет был изобретен в 1596 г. Джоном Харрингтоном и продемонстрирован английской королеве Елизавете I. Но она не оценила старания придворного поэта, и об изобретении забыли почти на двести лет.

Ими часто пользовались вне дома, особенно дамы- слуги носили их за хозяевами. 
Для дам в платьях с кринолинами они были просто спасением.

Bourdaloue - горшок, в который женщина может мочиться стоя.
Делали их очень красивыми из расписного фарфора. Их часто сейчас принимают за столовую посуду.

Только в 1738 г. стараниями Брондела был создан туалет смывного типа. Примерно в то же время во Франции вышел указ, запрещающий строить дома без уборных, и тогда же появился первый общественный туалет. Он имел два отделения – женское и мужское, а нечистоты по системе канализаций уплывали прямо в реку.

С середины XVIII века инженерная мысль двигалась в направлении усовершенствования ватер-клозетов. Наконец, в XIX веке Томас Креппер – слесарь из небольшой британской деревушки – сконструировал унитаз современного образца, изогнув канализационную трубу U-образно, чтобы вода в колене препятствовала проникновению неприятного запаха в помещение.

В начале XX века испанская компания «Unitas» (ударение на первом слоге) наладила массовое производство конструкций для ватер-клозетов: стульчак и смывной бачок, расположенный под потолком. Именно благодаря этой фирме слово «унитаз» прочно вошло в обиход.

Примерно в середине XX века на смену конструкциям с верхним сливным бачком пришли «компакты» – конструкции с нижним бачком из фаянса. И с тех пор меняются лишь дизайн и технические характеристики туалетов. Сам же принцип конструкции унитаза остается неизменным.
