Surichaqui was born in Lima, Peru in 1963. He studied drawing and print at the National School of Fine Art, Lima and watercolor at the Museum of Fine Art, Lima. He has attended artist workshops over the years to continually learn new techniques. Additionally, he studied medical technology at San Marcos University in order to gain a better understanding of the human form and anatomy. For a time, he studied Design Publicity but eventually felt he needed to express himself through his art. Surichaqui has received several distinctions for his work, including a showing at the School of Dentistry in Lima and at the National Engineering University, also in Lima. He has exhibited around Peru in solo and collective shows since 2000.
