Having put her plan into motion, Naoto meets back up with Monika, all for the purpose of working her way out of the situation Edelgard had put her in. Later, Naoto ends up coming across Edelgard herself, and eventually comes to realize who exactly the indomitable woman is on the inside.

Returning to Naoto for this chapter, picking back up on where we last left off with her. As a quick note, next chapter will return to BB, and then after that will be the finale chapters for V2. As such, V2 will be coming to an end in early-January. Once that happens, it'll have been approximately ~14 months since the first chapter of Deer River came out (with around a month's worth of writing beforehand if I remember correctly). I'll touch on the details regarding the finale next week (including art), as well as what's to come for the future.

And now, off-topic: Sephiroth is in Smash! The production quality on all of the Smash trailers has always been top-notch, and Sephiroth's trailer was no exception. I think that trailer is probably my favorite one yet. Somehow, the funniest moment of that trailer wasn't the Mario scene, but Cloud just blankly staring at Sephiroth with a "Not this shit again" expression. And One-Winged Angel is still the killer theme it's always been.

A quick piece done with my Clip Studio Paint Sumi Brush Pack, available on Graphixly ‰
I put a ton of effort into these brushes to make them authentic to traditional feel. Most of them are meant to reassemble the dry brush technique, while some of them can give you more wet brush edges.

The piece itself is to pair with my Ne Zha (done previously with these brushes as well). This depicts Zhu Que, the fire bird/Phoenix in Chinese mythology.

Here is my entry for the DA Arknights Fanart Contest, the Specialist university student of Lungmen, Waai Fu!

Where I started off with this drawing was a rough sketch of the pose. Since Waai Fu was a tiger, it would make sense for me to draw her based on the "Tiger Claw" martial arts pose. The coloring and shading is where I shine the most in this case as I was able to blend in a couple of warm shades to do the job. I may not be the brightest when it comes to background drawing, but I did my best to paint at least a simple green grass field and leaves scenery to compliment her orange palette. I make this as if it was inspired by traditional Chinese paintings. Waai Fu's traditional name written in Chinese characters were quite difficult to research as there were barely any references to how it is written in terms of stroke order. I managed to write it down based on other fanarts of Waai Fu that included her traditional name, so please forgive me if there is any error in my handwriting of her name characters.

Overall, this was a very fun fanart to make despite being somewhat difficult at most times. Thank you DA for accepting my artwork for the Arknights Fanart contest! ^_^

Adventuring is hard work.

To be an adventurer, youve gotta be fearless! Youve gotta be powerful! Youve gotta be quick-witted! An adventurer has to know exactly what theyre getting themselves into - and how to get out the other end stronger, or richer.

But whats really hard is, as an adventurer, your income depends entirely on finding a quest, finishing a quest, and hoping you get paid for said quest.

Sometimes you rescue a princess from a dragon, only to receive a big thanks and a pat on the back. Every day spent questing or exploring is another day that your life is on the line. Who knows when youll meet your fate? Not everyone has plot armor!

Thats not all, though. Adventuring is a highly competitive field. Everyone wants to be an adventurer! Theyre so cool, so romanticized! Who wouldnt want to be one?

Well, the over-abundance of adventurers means that its really, really, REALLY difficult to find a well-paying quest that another group isnt already handling. Unless youre early to the job offers, everyones problems are already being taken care of by other adventurers. Adventuring is, quite possibly, the most competitive field of work that one could get themselves into.

The cherry on top, though, becomes apparent when you factor in popularity. Of course, a position as glamorized as Adventurer would see its fair share of celebrities. You have your mighty warriors, the best of which are wrangling wild beasts with their bare hands; Youve got divine mages, able to harness ridiculous levels of magic that can fix problems with a single word; and of course, you have your glamour adventurers.

Sex sells. Its a timeless rule. Who do you think is more likely to be commissioned for quest work: a fledging adventurer whos looking for work, or a group of equally-amateurish girls whore scantily clad with less-than-practical armor sets that reveal most of their bodies? Depends on the horny levels of the commissioner, I guess& But the fact of the matter is, lots of people would prefer the latter.

So, what do you do to thin out this highly competitive field?

Well, luckily, these glamour adventurers really, really lean into the glamour more than the talent. Youll have a hard time getting rid of a group of professional adventurers, but& Glorified models who are posing as adventurers? Not so hard to take advantage of!


When a rookie adventurer sees a party of glamour adventurers taking their potential quest jobs, all they have to do is give them a friendly adventuring tip!

Hey, you guys know about the cave in the heart of the forest south of the kingdom? Word around town is that theres an ancient tomb in there. A huge collection of treasure, just waiting to be claimed. Its rumored that the treasure is guarded by a sleeping dragon. Just take some poison with you, take it down, and you could haul as much out of there as youd like!

And, if your tip is believable enough (or the glamour adventurers are gullible enough), good work! Youve successfully tipped them off without being too incredibly dishonest. Just a slight narrative tweak!

Yes, there is a cave hidden deep in the forest. Yes, there is a collection of treasure down there. Yes, it is being guarded by some monster(s). Its not the whole truth, but its enough to intrigue them!

In reality, the whole truth is that the "collection of treasures" is a bunch of glamour adventurers who have been ransacked and stripped of their goods, and tied suuuuper tightly with sticky, silk wrappings. The monsters are not dragons, but are, instead, giant spiders. Now, if you lied well enough, none of your v6i6c6t6i6m6s6 new friends are gonna bring fire weapons to fight what they think is a dragon. And by the time they realize fire weapons would be really, really effective against spiders and their webs, theyll hopefully be too wrapped up with the fight to change their game plan.

Fun fact: Did you know that spider silk is five times stronger than steel? The only reason humans can tear through it so easily is because its not dense enough!

Fun fact again: Did you know that spider venom has paralyzing properties? A bite from a spider can shut down another bugs entire central nervous system, rendering it completely immobile!

Really fun fact: Did you know that if a spider is 1000x larger than the hypothetical spiders from the previous two fun facts, those properties can scale up to be 1000x as effective?

What Im getting at here is, the glamour adventurers are in for a really sticky, and very inescapable wakeup call.

They walk deep, deep and deeper into the deep, dark cavern, feeling fully prepared to take on whatever might await them&

Our four heroines have come across a treasure room! but& Theres no gold strewn about in large piles. In fact, the only things on the ground are piles of discarded clothes, armor, weapons& And& Whats this?

Hanging from the ceiling is a collection of wrapped up, gagged, suspended, totally-cocooned ex-adventurers, bouncing around helplessly as they sway from side to side... And by the time our soon-to-be group of prey register whats going on, one of three things usually happens to their party.

They either:

1. Get leapt on by a giant spider, stumble powerlessly to the ground, and get paralyzed with venom...
2. Flee; only to get caught on a thin, nearly invisible, intricately woven web trap, or...
3. Try and help out some of the poor, wriggling girls that theyve just stumbled upon, while remaining foolishly ignorant of the fact that theyre next on the menu...

Regardless, the result is the same: Stuck, stripped, swirled, strung up, suspended, and stored!

Just like that - four more glamour adventurers have been dealt with and put to good use- as hourglass-shaped spider collectibles! Will they be turned into spider-egg incubators? Toys to be played with? Dolls for admiring? Or maybe theyll just be reduced to nutrients? Who knew that busty damsels in distress had so many uses!

Their armor, which can only accurately be described as metal bikinis, would be added to the ever-growing pile of other lewd outfits worn by the "adventueres"-turned-dolls that preceded them, serving as an additional trophy pile to the already existing trophy hoard of young girls - the naive, gullible, powerless adventurers.

And so, the cycle continues; the collection expands-

New glamour adventurers appear, and just as quickly, they disappear. Some people think they retire, or simply move on to exploit patrons from other kingdoms... But a select happy few know the truth: that theyve been put where they belong, and put to good use!
