Watch Parts Spider No 117
created December 10, 2020

Spider No 117 was made with recycled watch parts and repurposed electrical wire.

In order to create the legs, 24 watch strap springs must be cut in different sizes to simulate the organic appearance of real spiders legs, which vary in size and shape between species. Each of these segments is carefully arranged into a leg and soldered at the joints with lead free, silver bearing solder. These legs are then attached to the body of the spider. Each leg is embellished with 2 more winding stems and brass tubes for added stiffness and detail.

To make the body of the spider, several watch strap springs were soldered together, which are then sandwiched between two watch plates. The wire spools for the abdomen are createdwith several gears, cogs, balance wheels, plates, and watch strap springs and feature recycled hand-wound electrical wire. Cut watch gears are added to a balance wheel to create the pincers.

Spider No 117 measures 51mm wide by 53mm front to back by 21mm tall. All creations made by A Mechanical Mind are one of a kind, never to be reproduced exactly. All parts are soldered with a lead free silver bearing solder, no glues or resins are used in this piece. Sculptures are not toys and should be handled sparingly, as their parts are tiny and delicate.

Here is a picture that I did as a Christmas-themed request for Tyler5544: A picture of his original character, a female Egyptian fox named Kitsuneopatra, kissing Banjo from the "Banjo-Kazooie" video game series while he's under some mistletoe. Because of it being December for this year, I decided to take the opportunity to work on a set of pictures that I would be doing as part of my annual "Twelve Requests Of Christmas" art project that I'm able to hold every year during the holiday season, and I was willing enough to draw such a picture featuring both characters in such a scene together, especially since I was able to draw them in my original cartoon style sometime ago. For this picture I've done, I was able to draw Kitsuneopatra kissing Banjo with some mistletoe that is being held above his head by Kazooie, which happens to be a concept that I could not resist doing for such a picture involving Banjo, and both characters can be seen wearing colorful sweaters over their regular outfits. When I was coloring the picture in, I was able to use a pink swirled pattern for the wall in the background as well as a red carpeted texture for the flooring. The picture turned out very nice after being completed, and it's sure to please my friends and everyone else as well.

With great excitement I can announce my page just made it to 1K watchers! That's entirely to thank of those 1K people for allowing the milestone to happen by following me. And also to thank of the many people who asked requests, due to their requests ensuring variety among the page and keeping me active for it.

The past few weeks offline has been me spending a lot of volunteer time helping my church with outdoor and indoor renovation, but thankfully I was able to put together this simple in nature work of The Top 4 of my favorites for DiD content all suspended from the numbers there. I put in my favorite gag types down the row of OTM, cleave, tape, and bit as well, some others I like such as OTN, other forms of tape, and (slightly) ball-gag having to miss out though of course.
