A rare and wild cosplay post appeared!!I've been wanting to cosplay
Adeleine for a looooong long time, and decided it needed to happen sooner rather than later!
A few days before PAX Prime this year, I thought "Ahh what the hell!" and whipped this up real quick. Kirby 64 holds SO many wonderful memories for me. I used to rent it almost every week and would curl up on the couch and get lost in the beautiful music and settings! I was in 4th grade at the time, and was so obsessed, that I would just sit in class and draw the entire cast on EVERYTHING. Folders, tests....! I had my drawings all over the fridge, my bedroom walls- no place was safe from my Kirby 64 feels!
Adeleine was such a special character! She was this tiny little artist girl, and as one of those myself, it was really meaningful to have a character like that in a game
(Which explains my childhood love for Relm Arrowny!):origin()/pre00/2915/th/pre/i/2010/353/d/2/let__s_save_the_world_by_xskirtzx-d35833q.jpg)
The entire costume and Ribbon plush was hand made, spare the official Nintendo Kirby plush, the yellow button, the wig, and the brown flats. The wig was styled a bit. Not much I had to do though, heh!
I have never attempted a plush before, and had no idea where to begin, as I had no tutorial to reference on hand. It was the night before I left for Seattle, and I would have been so bummed to not have Ribbon the Fairy with me! So I just kinda winged it! Hand sewn body and clothes, hand painted face, and stuffed for good measure. I also attached a thick, pose-able wire to the back of her so that I could wear her like a bracelet on my arm while I walked about the con. It looked like she was flying alongside me! :') Anyway- I think she turned out pretty good for a fever dream-esque last minute project at 2 am! Ha! I also ripped one of the crystals off my old Lady Gaga costume, sprayed it with a pink and blue gradient, and sprinkled it with sparkles in honor of the
Crystal Shards from the game!
I wanted the paint brush to be large and cartoonish like hers, so I took a thick wooden dowel and spent a few hours to sand it into shape with a sanding belt. Then used plain white felt and a silver sprayed piece of craft foam to create the brush itself. Regular acrylic paints were used to paint the rainbow gradient.
The paint palette was made from spare plywood, hand cut with some very helpful wood cutting machinery out in dad's shop, sanded, and then stained a few times for the darker color.
It was a nice little 2 day project! Fun to finally do this! I only wore it for a few hours before I got tired and changed, haha! Not as good at dressing up as I used to be! Didn't help that the wig was a tad too tight.
HUGE thank you to Vincent Milum Jr,
Cospix. I adore these photos and I really appreciate the time he took to do this!
I have one more set of photos I'll post a little later. They are close ups! :')
