The Rotten World

A short explanation of the world Im working on. This world will be my playground to put character stories in and design character around it. Aesthetically this world can be compared with the 19^th century (Victorian age) combined with a dark fantasy vibe. I also work on it to hopefully give you guys a place where you can RP with Design you bought from me. However, you are not obligated to keep the character story or their status in my world. You can always put them into your own world and stories. The Rotten World is just my work title for it, since Im in a difficult deciding process to find a proper name. I should also mention that I put a mechanic into that world, that explains why so many species live in it, meaning that you can transfer almost any character into my world as well (of course they have to adjust their clothing, manner etc.), including CS from other creators. This Phenomenon Ill explain to you below is the core feature of my world and I hope you enjoy it.

The Dead God Phenomenon

This world who many call their home today, is nothing but an apple rotting from within. Once, it only had two humanoid races as highly intellectual beings who ruled over the lands. Created by their gods they were protected. These two races where humans and vampires. However, one day this world collapsed during the first death of one of Gods, inhabitant in this dimension. His giant and grotesque body fell to the earth, shattering the lands and the creations within. However not all died, some survived and over the thousand of years to come, this dead body who crushed the lands now formed a new landscape, a new area to live. Although the worst had yet to come. Over time strange new races and species appeared on several parts of the world, never seen before. Some were predators, others only mere insect but foremost, new humanoid species with an intellect similar to those of the humans and vampires now roamed the lands. No one knew where they came from even those new races themselves didnt know. In course of hundreds of years new species came, old ones died and wars for the spare ressources rippled through the lands. Researches from far and wide searched for an answer for this phenomenon and came to a simple conclusion. The first god who had died not only left his body behind, but also a massive amount of spiritual energy, you may call it a left behind soul if you so wish. This energy was so powerful that it started to rip wholes into the veil separating this world and others. Occasionally these rifts open, pulling species from other dimensions and world into this one. The species who come through didnt decide to do so, they were transported here against their will. In fact it seems that no one can willingly decide to go through that rift, it seems to pull them by its own accord and no one ever did find their way back.

The death of the first god was not the only one of course, other gods of this world died and this world has stood many times on the brink of complete destruction. These rifts appear in a random period of time, sometimes multiple at once, so it was assumed that not only the gods of this world had died here. It is assumed that other gods from other dimension and world also come here to take their last breath. However, when these foreign gods die here they only seem to leave their energy behind, no body of a foreign god fell to the ground to this date. And so this word seems to be an endless graveyard for gods of all dimension and their death causes the veil of this world to break open and pull other species into its godless realm.

Professor Reed and his research

Professor Reed is one of the few people who researches not the Dead God Phenomenon per se, but the creatures, people and beings that are pulled into this realm by that phenomenon. He runs an old Asylum that he reconstructed to fulfill his purpose. That Institute he runs is in his hands for 45 years now and he still hasnt found all the answers he was looking for. However, every being he can experiment on and study here may bring him further to the truth.

Professor Reeds Log:

(Subject 214-A also called Red Riding Hood)

The subject was brought to us the usual way. Apparently he was found in the outskirts of town, unconscious and injured. I think I dont have to mention that it is highly likely that he came through a new rift. This one just opened shortly after the last a few weeks ago, we never had such a short time period between rifts before.

The subject doesnt seem to be highly aggressive, he mostly cooperated with us and made no intentions to use violence while the nurses who were tending to his wounds. My first personal examination of him started soon after. The subject is male, around 1,85m tall and has a slim silhouette, Im guessing around 75-80kg from the looks of it. Although he seems to be of humanoid in nature he has some animal traits that can be made out quickly. He has canine features throughout his animal traits, counting two wolf like ears and a tail that seems to be directly attached to his spine on his lower back. Furthermore, he has paws at the end of his legs, where human an animal features seem to fuse together. Animal like bodies or features are nothing too uncommon, but upon asking him he refuses to have any kind of relation to the beastly species here, in fact he claims to be one of a kind.

The next days the subject grew more and more impatient, demanding to be set free because he has a duty he has to attend to. Upon asking what this so called duty was, only vague answer were made but it seemingly had to do with some kind of hunting or tracking down.

I further inspected his belongings from the day he arrived here. The most notable objects were a blade, probably made out of bone by the looks of it and an apple, which surprisingly didnt show any sign of rotting even though it had been untouched for a few days.

I asked the subject about his belongings and the item he wanted back the most was the apple. It seemed to be very special to him, he said that he needed it to accomplish his duty. Interestingly enough he told me that the blade he owned was made out of the bones of his first victim. Getting more answers out of the subject turned out to be fruitless.

The coming days one of the nurses visited me in my office and told me that she found an interesting legend that might have something to do with our new guest. Nurses are not allowed in the archives, so I have to remind myself to have a talk with said nurse later. I searched for the book the nurse mentioned and found the story she told me about. It seems to be more of a story made for children, a fairytale. I have to admit there are some resemblances between our subject and the story, however there are quite a few differences as well. For example, the protagonist in the fairytale is female, however she does wear that signature red cloak, which our guest also wears. There is no mention in the book that the protagonist and the wolf she later met ever fused in some way or that the girl had some animal features from the start. The apple as well as the blade are also not mentioned at all&I guess the nurse was reading too much into that fairytale.

Despite my protest, the nurses have started to refer to subject 214-A as Red Riding Hood, named after the protagonist of the fairy tale. The subject himself seems to be more and more stressed by the day, understandable of course. We didnt have the chance to experiment on him, since the last subjects who came from the rift just a few weeks ago still require our attention.

Sadly, about two weeks later it is likely that we will never get the chance to examine him any further. Without really knowing how, the subject managed to escape and take all his belongings with him. We have send a search team after him and although they didnt manage to capture him, I get some interesting news from time to time. My hunting theory seems to have been correct. He had killed five people in the short time after his escape, all of them werewolfs by nature. Even though he has animal features himself he apparently has a hatred towards these specific types of people. He doesnt hunt other people with beastly features, only werewolfs.

It's also interesting to note, that the apple he carries with him seem to grant him some abilities when he consumes it. Eyewitnesses have reported that his reflexes, as well as his speed and his strength increased after he consumed it. The apple itself seems to regenerate after he ate it, although its exterior is now white, with the flesh being black. One witness says that she saw the blood of a dead werewolf flow towards the eaten apple on the ground, helping it regenerate and making its exterior red again. It seems to feed upon werewolf blood and the subject seems to as well. Although these are some vampire features, he doesnt seem to be of vampire nature in any other way.

This subject proves to be highly interesting and until my man manage to catch him again, Im looking forward to hear more about Red Riding Hood.
