Thought he was due for a proper ref
some things:
black mouth flesh, triangle symbol and eye markings are paint, and can change design. He is revered as the sun god, and has absolute authority over a small chain of islands south of Vladimir. Their cities are small clustered stone temples and temporary woven huts, with a few central temples that are continuously built upon for the residence of the sun god. Trade is very popular, and markets are rich in crops and fish. There are catch limits to all resources to prevent over-harvesting any one crop. The islands are too small to support larger animals to be used as meat, instead smaller game is caught such as rabbits. His culture revolves around obtaining harmony and obedience to natural gods. The only god accepted to possess a physical, breathing form is the sun god, and the ruling goes in cycles of godly virtues, prowess, health, and standing figure. The sun god can embody either male or female, the tests for both are the same. Following the chain of island's agreement upon a chosen individual to be considered the godhead, they are expected to appoint goals, build on cities, protect the islands from all invasion (the islands are rich in minerals and rare wood), and show decency to all life unless deemed an enemy. Enemies are often dispatched at sacrificial ceremonies after each is considered and looked over for their value. If they seem to have no remorse for any 'wrongdoing' they may have committed against the islands or its residents, they are destroyed. If there is regret, there may be a release far off the islands shores. Tonatiuh must oversee all the islands warring and invasion issues and assume the correct choice each time. If his choices are found faulty, and found faulty often, he will be denounced and destroyed. He would be considered a false embodiment of the sun god, and tradition hold that only spilled blood will prevent the true sun god's wrath. This is often carried out by public beheading with a ceremonial blade. He would kneel (or bow, whichever is permitted depending on if he is feral or biped), the throat cut, and he be bled out before his head removed. His body will then be taken far off shore and burned with everything he owns on a ship adorned with writing that deems him a traitor to the islands.
Continuous raids from Vladimir and nomads have made it difficult for Tonatiuh and his people to consider forgiveness, and instead show brutality as soon as any foreign ships (by air or sea), land. The natives are well tuned with bows, cross bows, and arrow-runners (a heavy 'gun' capable of shooting small barbed arrows, often poison dipped.) Spears have and still are in use, but have since fell in favor for longer range weapons. Specialty weapons can be traded with other countries for rare goods, and many have at least some knowledge of their use. This includes machine oriented weapons found in modern warring countries. Though the natives know they themselves do not manufacture powerful modernized weapons, they know well they can easily trade for those weapons with in high demand products if need be. It has positive ties with many countries, but tends to hold fast to old traditions.
Tonatiuh himself is part of a mixed breed on the main island, and his family line is rather popular among the true natives. His bloodline has meshed heavily with native blood, and he is seen as a traditional native rather than an immigrant. Far before himself, his ancestors were likely Archs (Kurai's species), and they were able to breed among the natives. Arch longevity is dominant, therefore grants his family line long living years (so long that many natives consider them immortal.) Tonatiuh does not know much about Archs, and does not actively seek out information as he feels his place is on the island chain and no where else. He was born to a mother mixed with Arch and a native father. He inherited his mother's traditional eye markings that are seen in nearly all Archs, but does not possess spurs, wings (which are recessive), and the moreover longer paws. His line does have an instinctual habit of using feathers in their dress. Other natives have since picked this habit up, and also practice using feathers. While some Archs possess dark mouth flesh, the inky black trait is from his father's (native) line, along with the ridged tongue barbs.
The previous embodiment of the sun god's skull is worn as a sign of respect and place in society. Once Tonatiuh dies, his skull will adorn the next sun god, and the skull he wears will be burned along with the rest of his body.
He is relentless, demanding, bold, and well versed in the native culture and how to present himself to thousands. There is an avid air in his readings, and has a habit of writing detailed descriptions of places he's been and people he has met. He expects no failure. Strong, direct voice.
His claws are painted in gold (or the equivalent of gold in his world), and wears gold adornments and beads. The gold sun dial he wears is another 'symbol' that identifies him. It is also passed from one god embodiment to the next.
I'm probably missing details, but weh.
TL;DR: Tonatiuh's ref
