Das Grosse Engelsmeer ist ein etwa 1,7 Hektar grosser Moorsee in der Gemeinde Bad Zwischenahn im Landkreis Ammerland, Niedersachsen. Es liegt s"udlich der Bahnstrecke Oldenburg–Leer im Ortsteil Kayhauserfeld und ist seit 1939 ein Naturschutzgebiet (NSG WE 068). Zust"andige untere Naturschutzbeh"orde ist der Landkreis Ammerland. Entstehung: Das Grosse Engelsmeer ist ein sogenannter Erdfallsee, der durch Sackungen im darunterliegenden Salzstock entstanden ist. Diese Entstehungsgeschichte teilt es mit dem nahegelegenen Zwischenahner Meer. Solche offenen Gew"asser im Hochmoor werden auch als Mooraugen oder Kolke bezeichnet. Fr"uher gab es in den ostfriesischen Mooren unz"ahlige davon. Geografie und Natur: Das Engelsmeer liegt in einem entw"asserten Hochmoor und ist von einem Birkenwald umgeben. Es ist ein noch sehr urspr"unglicher Moorsee mit einer reichen Flora und Fauna, die sch"utzenswert ist. Dazu geh"oren typische Hochmoorpflanzen wie Torfmoos, Wollgras und Sonnentau. Das nasse Milieu bewahrt den Torf vor der Zersetzung. Naturschutzgebiet: Das Naturschutzgebiet dient dem Schutz des Sees, des umgebenden Moorbirkenwaldes und der angrenzenden Gr"unlandfl"achen mit ihren spezifischen Tier- und Pflanzenarten. Es hat auch Bedeutung f"ur den Schutz von Boden, Wasser und Klima sowie f"ur die ruhige Erholungsnutzung. Im Naturschutzgebiet ist es verboten, Pflanzen zu besch"adigen oder Tiere mutwillig zu beunruhigen. Besucher werden gebeten, auf den Wegen zu bleiben und Hunde an der Leine zu f"uhren. Erreichbarkeit: Das Grosse Engelsmeer ist zu Fuss von der Bahnstation Kayhauserfeld (ca. 20 Minuten Fussweg) oder mit dem Bus (Haltestelle Kayhauserfeld Engelsmeer, ca. 10 Minuten Fussweg) erreichbar. Wanderwege f"uhren durch das Gebiet und erm"oglichen es, die besondere Natur zu erleben.

The Cape Canaveral Lighthouse is a working lighthouse located near the launch pads at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and the Kennedy Space Center. The lighthouse was built in 1868 and is currently owned by the U.S. Space Force. It’s 151 feet tall, and there is also a replica of the Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage that now serves to house exhibits and as a gift shop. Image was captured on April 26, 2025.

One of the nicest developed RV parks in the USA -- if not the world -- is The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort near Orlando, Florida. It's a unique place to stay; you're close to the various Disney World theme parks, yet there is enough plant life and space between campsites that you know you're "outside". This photo was taken in April of 2025 during a three-night stay at Fort Wilderness. The photographer's 2023 Thor Compass 23TW mini-RV and 2024 Ford Maverick hybrid pickup truck are parked at the site. This is a second view of our campsite that shows the tent area and picnic table that are also at the site.
