This is the northeastern end of a culvert where the abandoned Richmond Vale Railway passes over Blue Gum Creek. The culvert is at the base of a large embankment that supported the line. The railway was built in the early 1900s to service collieries in the Richmond Vale area, linking them to Hexham on the Hunter River. This section of the line was last used in the 1960s.  The area is now part of the Stockrington State Conservation Area.
