The Schatzalp funicular, in operation since Christmas Eve 1899, runs from Davos Platz to the peaceful sun terrace of the Hotel Schatzalp, 1,861 meters above sea level. The Hotel Schatzalp was originally designed as a luxury sanatorium and, at the beginning of the 20th century, was considered the most advanced in the region. It was here that Thomas Mann found inspiration and ideas for his novel “The Magic Mountain”. Since 1953, the former sanatorium has been a first-class hotel. The Schatzalp, also known as the "Magic Mountain", is located high above Davos and can be reached from Davos station via the Schatzalpbahn in just four minutes. In the early 20th century, Thomas Mann was visiting his wife Katia in a sanatorium in Davos. She was staying at the Waldhotel to cure a lung infection; Mann spent three weeks sitting on the porch beside her, breathing the alpine air. During this time he took numerous hikes in the area above the forest sanatorium, an area through which the Thomas Mann Trail passes. The trail starts at the Waldhotel in Davos at 1,600 m above sea level and with a 2.8 km walk you reach Thomas-Mann-Platz in Schatzalp at 1880 m. Estava hospedada no Waldhotel para curar uma infec~ao pulmonar; Mann passou tr^es semanas sentado na varanda ao lado dela, respirando o ar alpino. Durante este per'iodo, fez in'umeras caminhadas na zona acima do sanat'orio florestal, uma zona por onde passa o Thomas Mann Trail. O trilho comeca no Waldhotel em Davos, a 1.600 m acima do n'ivel do mar e com uma caminhada de 2,8 km chega-se `a Thomas-Mann-Platz em Schatzalp, a 1880 m. The Fountain of the Acqua Felice (Italian: Fontana dell'Acqua Felice), also known as the Fountain of Moses, is a fountain in Rome named after Pope Sixtus V (Felice Peretti). It marks the end of the 3rd-century Acqua Felice aqueduct, restored by the aforementioned pope. It was designed by Domenico Fontana and built between 1585 and 1588. It is located at the intersection of Largo Santa Susanna and Via Venti Settembre; on the other side and diagonally from the Largo is the church of Santa Susanna, while on the other side of Via Venti Settembre is the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria.
