Revisiting the scene of heather in bloom on the south Pennine moors which I shot last August. Calderdale opens up as far as the eye can see, while below sits The Moorcock Inn at Norland, the renowned and much-loved pub and restaurant. It's been a favourite of ours since they opening in early 2018, and since they announced they're sadly closing their doors for good in January 2023, we're aiming to eat there as much as possible and savour every morsel. The old packhorse bridge at Baitings Reservoir, between Blackstone Edge and Ripponden. The reservoir was completed in 1956, submerging this bridge and the hamlet of Baitings.The bridge is only exposed when the water levels are extremely low, this is a good visual indicator of how empty reservoirs are in the region. I've never seen it so apparent.The morning after I photographed this, Yorkshire Water announced water use restrictions would soon be imposed. 2022: the summer of drought and heatwaves.
