Dry Lake is a seasonal lake located south of Medicine Lake, California.  I ended up camping right here as I was treated to a spectacular view of the night sky w/ absolutely dead quiet air.  I could've spent the entire night awake watching the stars.  There was initially some haze from distant fires but it seemed to be dissipating.  At this time in mid-July 2020, Comet NEOWISE was in its prime viewing, hovering low on the northwest horizon.  The comet was discovered on March 27, 2020 & is the brightest comet seen with the naked eye since Hale-Bopp in 1997.  Here one can see two tails that extend from it, plus a nice view of the Milky Way & Andromeda Galaxies.

The Whaley House in San Diego, California, USA was built by Thomas Whaley in 1857. It is located in Old Town the historic center of San Diego. Whaley and Philip Crosthwaite set up a general store in the house. The house is purported to be haunted and it has been featured on several television shows. In 1852 “Yankee Jim” Robinson was convicted of grand larceny and hanged on the property before the house was built. At the time the property was a graveyard. Whaley’s daughter Violet committed suicide in 1888 and she has also been thought to roam the house. It is now a museum that is run by the Save Our Heritage Organization (SOHO) and is one of the most important historic houses in the city.
