Wardour Castle was built in the late 14th century as a fortified Manor House. Its irregular hexagonal shape is influenced by the design of French chateaux. It was extensively damaged by Parliamentarian forces who besieged the castle for several weeks in 1643. Instead of repairing it, a new castle was built nearby. In more recent times, the old castle was used as a setting for the the film, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Vom Bahnhof in Starnberg gut zu Fuss erreichbar liegt das Seebad Starnberg, wo momentan noch die Vorbereitungen f"ur die kommende Badesaison laufen. Angesichts der durch die Corona-Pandemie bedingten allgemeinen Schliessung kann das ganz in Ruhe ablaufen. Im Sommer k"onnte es hier etwas turbulenter werden. Allerdings gibt es nicht unweit entlang des Ostufers und auch etwas weiter entfernt auf der Westseite einige Badegelegenheiten, wo man auch ohne Eintritt sch"on den See geniessen kann. Am besten mit dem Fahrrad.

Have a look at the opposite side where parts of the walls and buildings of the courtyard are already plastered.

Looking at the Bolivar Lookout at about 6,900' elevation on the north side of Craggy Mountain near Callahan, California.  The lookout site was first developed in 1936 & serves as a better vantage point overlooking the Scott Valley compared to its former location atop Craggy Mountain.  Here it sits on a granite perch w/ lots of cliffs & gullies down below.  From here one can see into the Marble Mountain & Russian Wilderness areas as well as Mt. Eddy & Mt. Shasta to the east.  An old trail weaves down from here to the forest service roads accessing the Boulder Lakes.
