The complex, inaugurated in 2006, was designed by Mario Botta in an industrial area of the Fiat. The bell tower chimney wrapped in a steel spiral remains as a symbol. The church has a central plan with seven radial towers that act as a skylight, it does not have a main facade, so that from every visible point of the city there is a single image.

Aerial view (about 100') above Big Bald Spot, a small steep hillside area of several acres that is void of trees.  Nearby of course is a smaller open area called Little Bald Spot.  The top of this prairie is about 300' higher than the bottom.
