The Soyuz-MS is the latest revision of the Soyuz spacecraft. It is an evolution of the Soyuz TMA-M spacecraft, with modernization mostly concentrated on the communications and navigation subsystems. It is used by the Russian Federal Space Agency for human spaceflight. Soyuz-MS has minimal external changes with respect to the Soyuz TMA-M, mostly limited to antennas and sensors, as well as the thruster placement.   Source: Wikipedia

A view of the picturesque Opal Pool near Jawbone Flats in the Opal Creek Wilderness area, Oregon.  I got here before the crowds as this is a popular swimming hole, & w/ a lovely jade color, it's not hard to see why.  The pool is larger than this picture portrays & also quite deep, perhaps over 20 feet at the opposite end.  The surrounding creeks in the region have a lovely green to them, especially when sunlight hits.

Overlooking the Railroad Creek Valley from old mine tailings of the Holden Mine above Holden Village, Washington.  There are several tailings like these along this steep gully leading up the side of Copper Peak dating back to the early mining days of the 1890s.  The main adit to the mine was in operation from 1938 to 1957 & included 56 miles of tunnels & stopes w/ underground rooms as large as Holden Village itself.  I suppose one of these days the side of this mountain may collapse as a result of the immense underground workings.  A trail leads up to the highest tailings, all of these to which the adits are long caved.  It passes by the former Honeymoon Heights where married miners would take their 'vacation'.  Look from this nice vantage to see Bonanza Peak, Martin Ridge across the way, & the quaint Holden Village below as well as some of the larger tailings that had been remediated the last few years w/ the process ongoing.

Roermond Netherlands Maas Bridge Hatenboer This is the place where river Rur joins with river Maas. Locals also have there floating homes here. The other bank of river Maas can be reached over the Maasbrug. A strong landmark is the office tower with his cone formed roof. Roermond Niederlande Maasbr"ucke Hatenboer Hier verbinden sich Rur und Maas. Anwohner haben hier ihre Wohnboote liegen. Die andere Seite des Ufers ist zug"anglich "uber die Maasbr"ucke. Eine imposante Landmarke bildet der B"uroturm mit seinem kegelf"ormigen Dach.Nederlands: Dit is de plek waar het riviertje Roer in moeder Maas binnen vloeit. Roermonders hebben hier hun woonaaken liggen. Over de Maasbrug kom je naar de andere zijkant van de Maas. Een heel imposant gebouw is de office toren met zijn tap vormig dak constructie.

Between Chalet 5 & 6 at Holden Village, Washington.  My grandparents first came to Holden Village in 1968 & were fairly regular guests throughout the 1970s, my grandpa giving lectures relating to philosophy.  Chalets are for the long term staff & so they lived at Chalet 5.  The trail continues into the woods (which were burned in a forest fire in 2015) to Tenmile Falls & behind Martin Ridge.

Gagarin's Start is a launch site at Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, used for the Soviet space program and now managed by Roscosmos State Corporation. The launchpad for the world's first human spaceflight made by Yuri Gagarin on Vostok 1 in 1961, the site was referred to as Site No.1 as the first one of its kind. It is also sometimes referred to as NIIP-5 LC1, Baikonur LC1 or GIK-5 LC1.   Source: Wikipedia

Gigapixel view from the summit of Mt. Fernow (elev. 9,249') in the Entiat Mountains, a subrange of the North Cascades near Holden Village, Washington.  The peak is the eighth highest in the state w/ sweeping views in every direction.  Directly nearby is the Entiat Valley w/ Mt. Maude in Seven Fingered Jack, also over 9,000 feet, decorated w/ a few alpine glaciers including the Entiat Glacier.  Westwards is a prolofic view of Glacier Peak & across the way is Bonanza Peak, which at 9,511 feet is the highest non-volcanic peak in the state.  Holden Lake is in the valley just to the right of that b/w Martin Peak.  Distant views include Mt. Baker & Shuksan, many of the jagged peaks in North Cascades National Park, as well as Oval Peak to the northeast, the distant Stuart Range to the south, & the Alpine Lakes Wilderness south of Stevens Pass.  Holden Village & Lake Chelan are not visible from the summit.  There was a bit of haze & if you know where to look, you could see an extremely faint view of Mt.
