St Sampson's Church, South Hill is in a small rural parish in east Cornwall, 3 miles from Callington and 6 miles from Liskeard. The church was dedicated by Bishop Grandisson, bishop of Exeter, on 4th November 1333. St Sampson was born around 500 AD and is believed to have set up a monastery at either South Hill or Golant. A Romano-British granite pillar, about 8ft high and with an inscribed cross, was found in the rectory grounds in 1891. It was re-erected in the churchyard.

The church of St Paul, Upton Cross, Cornwall was built in 1885 as an extra church in the Parish of Linkinhorne to save the new community a long walk.

The Baptistery of San Giovanni is on the opposite side of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, and it is possible to climb the impressive staircase from Piazza Jacopo.

I love this acre patch of Larkspur that show up every mid-summer on top of Pryor Mountain. The sea of violet-blue is a sight to see. Here, I share it with you.

Lava Falls Rapid has a few features that boaters are particularly aware of and want to avoid. The first is the Ledge Hole where the water pours over a submerged rock ledge thus creating a nasty hole of frothing water below it. Stay just right of the Ledge Hole, but not too far right, otherwise the Cheese Grater will greet you farther down the rapid.

Just about all boaters stop to scout Lava Falls Rapid on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. I chatted with these kayakers while they were scouting the rapid. These boaters look like they have chosen a pretty good line.

To the east and west, this square is flanked by historic university buildings. Founded in 1434, it is not only the oldest university in Sicily, but also the largest with 60,000 students. With the Scuola Superiore di Catania, it has its own branch for the promotion of the highly gifted.
