At the time of the Safavid dynasty the city of Qazvin was the capital city of Iran. The Kolah Farangi edifice which is much like the Hasht Behesht palace of Isfahan, is a two-storey building with a big hall. In its flourishing days, all rooms and corridors have been decorated with paintings and gold ornaments. It had wonderful inlaid doors and tile-works. The most beautiful part is its central hall with vaulted ceiling and a pool with a fountain in the center of it. This building was repaired and reconstructed in Qajar era and was called Chehel Sutun.
