Michael Bublé's new album 'Call Me Irresponsible' is released in most European markets today, prior to its UK release next Monday and the US and Canada on May 1.
'Call Me Irresponsible' is Michael's finest work yet. From the opening track, Cy Coleman’s "The Best Is Yet To Come," (made famous by Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and others). Then there’s the exhilarating, salsa-flavored "It Had Better Be Tonight," written by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini, which Michael attacks with a hot-blooded vengeance. From there, he takes on "Me and Mrs. Jones," the 1972 Gamble and Huff classic popularized by soul singer Billy Paul.
Next up is Leonard Cohen’s "I’m Your Man" from the Canadian singer/songwriter’s 1988 album of the same name. Then there’s a swinging, hep-cat version of Mel Tormé’s 1962 pop hit "Comin’ Home Baby," featuring vocals from Boys II Men; and a sentimental, self-penned ballad "Lost," co-written with Alan Chang and Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden.
An emotional rendition of Eric Clapton’s ballad "Wonderful Tonight," on which Michael duets with Brazilian singer-songwriter Ivan Lins, whose work has been covered by everyone from Sarah Vaughn to Ella Fitzgerald follows.
Other highlight’s include two of Michael’s original songs, including the acoustic-guitar driven "Everything," co-written with Amy Foster-Gillis and Alan Chang (who also co-wrote Michael’s touching hit ballad "Home") from his smash album 'It’s Time' and produced by fellow Canadian Bob Rock (Bon Jovi, Metallica, Motley Crue, Bryan Adams) as well as a swinging version of "I've Got The World On A String' and one of the best covers of all-time on "Always On My Mind".
Rounding out "Call Me Irresponsible" is Frank Sinatra’s "That’s Life," which, in Michael’s hands, becomes a powerhouse complete with a full choir and a delicious version of "Dream".
The special edition also features a smashing bonus track - "LOVE". An internet edition is also available featuring an addtional track, the well known Nat King Cole hit song - "Orange Coloured Sky".
This album again combines Michael with the successful team of producers David Foster and Humberto Gatica who produced Michael's first two major label CD releases which each have sold over 5 million units worldwide.
The mix of songs on 'Call Me Irresponsible' ensures that there is something musically for everyone.
The Daily Bublé's verdict - 'Call Me Irresponsible' is in one word - Sensational!
