Этот творческий союз просуществовал более пяти лет, и результатом его стали десять фильмов, девять из которых – мюзиклы. Шесть картин из десяти были необычайно популярны и принесли огромную прибыль создателям. Вот такая математика.

 

Современники отмечали, как необыкновенно хорошо актеры смотрятся вместе. «He gives her class, and she gives him sex» - говорила актриса Кэтрин Хепберн о дуэте.

При всем этом, до работы с Астером Джинджер никогда не отличалась особыми способностями в хореографии: "Rogers was outstanding among Astaire's partners not because she was superior to others as a dancer but because, as a skilled, intuitive actress, she was cagey enough to realize that acting did not stop when dancing began ... the reason so many women have fantasized about dancing with Fred Astaire is that Ginger Rogers conveyed the impression that dancing with him is the most thrilling experience imaginable."

По свидетельствам самого Фреда, Роджерс играла умение танцевать (вот искусница-то!): "Ginger had never danced with a partner before. She faked it an awful lot. She couldn't tap and she couldn't do this and that ... but Ginger had style and talent and improved as she went along. She got so that after a while everyone else who danced with me looked wrong."

Замечательная песня – о том, что нет ничего невозможного для тех, кто верит в свой успех несмотря на всеобщее убеждение в обратном. Прямо-таки гимн оптимизму!)

 

Плюс прекрасный танцевальный номер и комичная ситуация. Обратите внимание, как Фред Астер – по сюжету американец, выдающий себя за русского танцора балета Петрова (Отдельная история - как он там делает вид, что говорит по-русски! Самое произносимое слово из его речи – это «Очачонья», это надо слышать))) ) – старательно вначале изображает классического танцора, хотя прекрасно танцует tap dance (степ), вот только не подозревает об этом его очаровательная партнерша, которую он и дурачит своими замысловатыми па.
