Here I'd like to look at new English slang words that have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary. The OED is revised every months, and new words in common usage are added to the dictionary. Let's look at some of these words :)

WIKI - usually used as a reference to the online encyclopaedia www.wikipedia.org, wiki also hasa more general meaning:
Official defenition: "A type of web page designed so that its content can be edited by anyone who accesses it, using a simplified mark-up language*''.
Origin: The original word wiki is Hawaiian for "fast", but also is an abbreviation for the phrase "what I know is..."
*mark-up language - the most well-known mark-up is HTML: the language of the Internet.

MAN STAND - the act of a man standing outside a shop while his wife/girlfriend/sister shops inside.Man Standing involves looking into space, at other women, or in the case of multi story shopping centers, leaning on the railings of an upper floor watching the people below. The man is expected to look tired, bored and to hold the woman's shopping. Very commonplace*.
E.g. "Oh, I've been doing the Man Stand outside New Look for an hour!"
*commonplace - smth, that often happens.

MCJOB - a job in a service related field with low pay, low prestige and little opportunity for advancement, such as in a fast food shop with long hours, few perks and slave labour.
E.g. "Pete was understandably bored and cranky after eight hours of working his McJob".

SMIRTING. A number of countries have now banned smoking in pubs and bars. As a result, those who can't resist the urge to lit up* are obliged to stand outside. This has led to a new phenomenon known as "smirting", which is basically a combination of "smoking" and "flirting".
E.g. "Look at those people standing around smirting. Looks like some kind of dating agency".
*to light up - to start smoking a cigarette.
