Exchange student’s day.

Host mother: Good morning!
Oh my gosh, this morning is everything but good! Better she’d say: “Terrible morning!” Why I’m so pessimistic? Just because their thirty cows have been loudly mooing since yesterday evening all night long!
Host father: You probably didn’t sleep well because of the cows? It’s okay; they will stop it in two days!
Ha, two days! Just two days without sleep! Oh yeah, it’s okay!
Host mother: Have a great day!
Of course, I will! After a couple of these “great” days and nights, I bet, I will fall asleep during cross-country practice! It will be very nice! Don’t miss it –sleeping runner! Only this fall on Marion’s streets!
Student: How are you?
Awesome! What else can I say? I hate this phrase. Actually, you do not want to know how I feel, do you? So why do you ask that? I promise: one day I will tell you everything, but it probably will take one or two blocks!
Student: How’s on the farm?
Perfect question. Absolutely amazing! Joke for them and true for me. Pretty good. Tomorrow all newspapers will have reports about cows’ massacre.
Student: Where are you from?
Me: Russia.
Student: Cool!
What do you mean saying this? All teenagers just say: “Cool!” Guess what is adults’ answer? “Great!” Do you really like Russia so much? I am pleased, truly.
Student: Where is it situated?
I am really confused. What should I say? Maybe: “Near China”? I am not sure that it will help.
Student: Is it really so cold?
One else very nice question. How cold? I know what I will tell them next time: “It’s warmer than Alaska, but colder than Montana”. Honestly, I have no idea about Montana’s climate. So do they.
Everybody: How do you like America so far?
I have been here for two weeks. I still don’t know how to answer. It is something like “How are you?” But I do. I like it. You have “plastic” food, awful cows and good roads. And you do have big hearts.
