Hidden Viking Record Vikings and the Glass Mountain

Среда, 22 Февраля 2023 г. 12:18 + в цитатник
This article describes England's first experience with the Vikings. How bad it must have been for poor people monks to own their calm, God-fearing lives made inverted before they even understood what was happening, in a discomfort of demise and destruction. We can't support but assess it to 9/11, but on a much smaller scale.

The long boats suddenly seemed as though from nowhere.

The monks, cradled safely, because they believed, in the love and peace of God, stopped what they certainly were performing and peered curiously at these weird craft. They found intense seeking men disgorging from the ships, brute-men in mail byrnies and helms, with swords and axes. They didn't stop, but scaled the cliffs with an awful function and made right for poor people, peace-loving monks.

Unarmed and really unused to martial methods, they ran in stress, in this manner and that, trying to truly save the precious relics and items of the monastery. What chance had they? The Vikings were bent on an orgy of killing and looting. Viking shields

Their swords pierced the monks' tissue, while these bad war-axes separated minds from bodies and in some cases chopped through from the throat to the middle, creating half-men of those who had when been God fearing individual beings.

Nothing was sacred to these savage men. They made up altars, trampled on important relics, desecrated the tomb of St. Cuthbert, the founder of the monastery in 635. They put hard, uncaring hands on the lovely Lindisfarne Gospels, published in equally Latin and Old British, telling the stories of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Several monks were killed, while others were put in organizations and led to the ships as slaves. Yet others were removed nude and chased to the shore where many drowned, even while enduring the gross insults of the marauders. Some existed, but, went back to the monastery, and renewed it.

The Anglo Saxon Chronicle shows us that before the assault on Lindisfarne, because same year, bad portents were seen. Immense sensations of lightening, fiery dragons soaring in the air and following these got a good famine in the land.
