2021 Australian Golf Course Rankings

Четверг, 20 Мая 2021 г. 19:29 + в цитатник

International and interstate visitors, who are members of a golf club, are welcome to enquire about visitor tee times on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays . Members of our Reciprocal Clubs are extended playing rights aligned to their Club’s reciprocity agreement with Royal Melbourne. Our Club is recognised as one of the leading golf clubs in Australia with two of the pre-eminent golf courses in the world. There are a number in close proximity to the city centre, perfectly positioned next to the ocean so you can enjoy fantastic views as you tee off. Further afield, you’ll discover courses set amongst the tranquil settings of the majestic Hawkesbury River.
The course has a new-look par-3 sixth hole as well as a more refined look to its native vegetation. Some panellists view the oceanside layout as a benchmark , but for now must be content with being clearly Sydney’s golf courses near me premier layout. This marks six straight rankings at either seventh or eighth on our list for the East course at Royal Melbourne, as it becomes something of a fortress in the lower regions of the top 10.

Our panel can discern no criterion weakness in the layout, lauding the layout with a sea of high numbers. We wondered a decade ago whether Lost Farm had what it took to surpass the original course. It never has, but what the younger sibling has done is retain a place in the six-to-nine bracket for all five rankings it has been part of. Slightly less than a point-and-a-half separates the pair, with Lost Farm surrendering an overall place only due to the course now ranked immediately above it. One of four courses in the second 10 to fall a single spot, moves largely attributable to the re-inclusion of a leading Melbourne Sandbelt course.
After it returned to the ranking last time following a 12-year absence, the original Hunter Valley resort layout settles a few spots in 2020. Where the course has come ahead in recent years is largely seen in the criterion for Conditioning, which 74 percent of our judges rated as 7 out of 10 or higher. Adelaide is blessed with a collection of fine layouts outside the much-vaunted Big 4.
It might just be the biggest crowd you ever play in front of, although it’s doubtful you’ll receive much applause when you drain that 20m putt. There is some contention to this claim, but Ratho Farm bills itself as the oldest golf course in Australia. Ratho Farm traces its roots to 1822 and is likened to playing golf in Scotland. It all makes sense – the course’s founders were Scottish and modelled the layout on those in their former homeland.

The golf course makes for an excellent test of skills both for the professional and amateur golfer. With a length of over 6300 meters, water comes into play on 14 holes, so shot selection is important and you’ll be rewarded for strategic shot placement along with many risk and reward opportunities. We provide and host an array of golf lessons for juniors on our golf course, which include beginners golf lessons to advanced. With multiple levels to participate in, our golf lessons are some of the most unique, challenging and advanced in Sydney.
There are eight lakes, many rock drains or trees, bushes, ponds, doglegs and bunkers. The views of the surrounding countryside are spectacular, and there is abundant wildlife all year round. Boddington Gold Club runs a dry 18 hole course overlooking the town of Boddington and the Hotham River. The course is available to the general public every day and payment can be made via an Honesty Tin at $10 per player for 18 holes. Ladies Day is Wednesday and both Men and Women play on Saturdays - membership is not essential to join in on these club days. Offering "golf as nature intended" and designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr, this course presents a highly regarded test for players of all levels, but is also renowned for its playability.

Pacific Harbour has been a perennial second-half course ever since it opened, and although this marks its lowest position to date, it wouldn’t surprise to see it push back up towards the middle of the list again in future. Regarded by many as the Sunshine Coast’s best layout, Pelican Waters has curiously been on a rankings slide for several years. With plans for course alterations in the pipeline, its next number could be the most compelling yet for the Queensland Open venue.
Portsea was once a top-50 stalwart and is moving in the right direction to be that way again. The Mornington Peninsula layout scored especially well for Design Variety and Ambience, while ‘fun’ was a frequently used description by our panel. A course undergoing significant and ongoing greens renovations but one that still holds firm amid the work. One of the steadiest dwellers in the middle realms of the ranking drew high marks for Aesthetics and Conditioning, which complements the appealing layout in suburban Perth. The pick of the non-suburban South Australian courses finds itself with its worst ranking to date, but remains in the 50-to-70 bracket where it has resided for all but one ranking period. Lady Bay is a seasonal gem, with variant wind and ground conditions contributing to a layout that would test even in calm weather.
The Dunes holds a special place in the hearts of many golfers as the pioneer of top-shelf public-access play on the golf-rich Mornington Peninsula. For a quarter of a century it has drawn golfers – including our panel, which continues to regard it highly. Another ‘jumper’ as Barwon Heads bounces back from a drop last time to a more familiar position on our list.
