Abstract:


An electric golf cart that repeatedly travels around a given course of golf links is powered by a driving motor supplied with electric power from a driving battery. The electric golf cart is provided with a travel distance integrating unit, a memory, a battery charge and discharge integrating unit, and a discharge-per-course calculating unit. Mapping data is stored in the memory, which mapping data defines the relationship between the distance that the electric golf cart travels and the number of rounds that the electric golf cart has traveled. The number of rounds that the electric golf cart has traveled is calculated by the discharge-per-course calculating unit based on the travel distance obtained by the travel distance integrating unit along with the mapping data. Then, the number of rounds obtained and the discharge calculated by the battery charge and discharge integrating unit are utilized to identify the discharge of the driving battery per course.

The present invention relates to a flexible connection of teaching devices to programmable controllers. A network is used for selectively connecting one teaching device to two or more controllers, or selecting one of at least two teaching devices for connection to selected ones of a plurality of controllers.

Generally, one teaching pendant is hard wired to one programmable controller. If it is desired to communicate with a second programmable controller, then the teaching pendant is manually disconnected from the first programmable controller, or robot, for manual connection to the second controller, or robot.

The human-machine interface is configured for selecting the startup mode module for the drilling procedure, and for inputting a query information corresponding to the selected startup mode module. Abstract:


A signal processing technique for estimating the frequency of a pulsatile signal (including but not limited to pulse oximetry signals) is disclosed. Each of the functions contained within a pre-selected set of functions is compared to the input signal at many different time-shifts, and the function/time-shift combination that best matches the input signal is selected. The frequency of the best-matching function is then used as the best estimate of the frequency of the input signal. Optionally, once a function has been selected, the rising portion of the selected function can be correlated in time to the rising portion of the input signal. Improved results can then be obtained by basing the oxygen saturation level calculations on samples taken from the rising portion of the input signal.

A SIM card securing mechanism for a mobile phone is described. A phone body has several positioning holes. One side of the securing plate is pivoted in the body to allow the securing plate to swivel relatively to the phone body. The securing plate has a plurality of elastic arms each of which has a protrusion. The securing plate is capable of being swiveled to a securing position relatively to the phone body to allow the protrusions to be fastened to the corresponding positioning holes via the elasticity of the elastic arms. Abstract:


A method and system for providing a telematics readiness mode including receiving a first readiness mode input at a telematics unit, initiating a readiness mode responsive to the received first readiness mode input, receiving a second readiness mode input at the telematics unit while in the readiness mode, and determining a readiness action based on the received second readiness mode input. A computer usable medium with suitable computer program code is employed for providing a telematics readiness mode.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates generally to telematics systems. In particular the invention relates to a method and system for providing a telematics readiness mode.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Telematics units enable a service provider access to information regarding a subscriber"s vehicle. The service provider or the subscriber either through telematics unit input or a telephone call placed to a call center initiates information transfer. Currently the subscriber does not have a method for interacting with the call center without placing a service call and communicating with the service provider.

Situations exist where a subscriber anticipates the necessity of contacting a call center and wants the telematics unit to be ready if that need arises. Subscribers may experience a flat tire, vehicle breakdown, or other trouble that leaves them stranded in a strange place while they wait for help or try to fix the problem themselves. This could be on a deserted road, during the night, or in an unknown location. Additionally, while refueling, a subscriber must exit their vehicle and stand outside the vehicle for extended periods of time. If assistance is then required, actions are required in order to initiate contact. In an emergency, these methods may not be possible or feasible.

Abstract:


A group authentication method adaptable to a communication system is disclosed. The communication system includes a user group, a serving network, and a home network. The user group includes at least one mobile station. The home network pre-distributes a group authentication key to itself and all the mobile stations in the same user group and generates a mobile station authentication key for each mobile station. The home network generates a group list for recording related information of the user group. The home network has a database for recording the group list. The serving network has a database for recording the group list and a group authentication data received from the home network. The group authentication method includes following steps. The serving network performs an identification action to a mobile station. The communication system performs a full authentication action or a local authentication action according to the result of the identification action.

A system and method in a client device (22) for controlling the power within the client device (22). The client device (22) has a network access device (30, 130), a programmable timer (48), and a controller (42). The network access device (30, 130) has at least a powered state and a power-off state. The programmable timer (48) operates the network access device (30, 130) in the powered state. The controller (42) is coupled to the programmable timer (48) and is capable of providing a time period for operating the network access device (30, 130) in the powered state. The controller (42) determines the time period based on a discontinuous reception (DRX) parameter obtained from the network access device (30, 130).
