The history of gymnasium stats in 1882 when the school for Armenian girls named after the merchant Nickita Gogoev was founded.The school was opened on the 28^th line in his own house and on his money.

 

In 1909 Queen Maria having noticed the high level of teaching Russian and French languages allows to open elementary grades in Gogoev’s school.

In 1912 high school was formed and Gogoev’s school got the right to become the gymnasium. The graduates get the certificate of a private teacher.

Unfortunately in 1919 Gogoev’s gymnasium stops working. In 1920 the building was occupied by the Soviet vocational schools #45 and #6.

In 1924 it became the 9 years school named after Stepan Shaumyan. And in 1930 it becomes secondary school #16. In 1949 it again becomes secondary school for girls #14 and 1959 it is the grammar school with advanced English teaching.

In 1984 the new period in the development of school has begun. The present headmistress Matveeva Lydia Dmitriievna creates the new infrastructure of the innovative educational establishment.

In 1992 secondary school with advanced English teaching becomes the gymnasium like in 1909. The Humanities become the main subjects in the gymnasium #14. In this period innovational programs are developed and modern educational technologies are applied. Partnership with British and American school is established.

In 2006 gymnasium #14 became the winner of the competition of the educational establishments applying innovational technologies.     

 

 

Especially, our school is one of the biggest in our region. In our school there are a lot of good and qualified

teachers. There are two buildings in our school: modern building for pupils for 1-4 form and oldest building for pupils for 5-11 forms. In our school there are two gyms, canteen, two checkrooms, library, medical room, concert hall and there are a lot of other cabinets, as biology, physics, Russian language, literature, many cabinets of English and some others. There are two computer classes, we have such subject, as information technology, we study it in English. On some subjects as biology, English, we use computer technologies.

In our school you can study 9 or 11 forms. When you finished 9 forms, you may go to college or to lyceum, or to continue study in school. After 9 forms you may check your form. There are two forms: humanity and maths.

Our school is the best school for me.
