lacserver2.linuxaircombat.comEverybody with an up-to-date copy of Linux Air Combat can now participate with us in the ten-player missions that we have been using during our development. (It’s a lot of fun.) Starting in late Oct2019, LAC has updated its protocol definition. Accordingly, LAC versions prior to 7.90 must be upgraded in order to interact with users that have upgraded. Users that fail to update will be constantly alerted of the availability of a newer version whenever anybody with a newer version is active in their missions.
At the time of this writing in November of 2019, only a very few people know about Linux Air Combat’s new online server. We generally gather online on Thursday evenings, from about 7PM until 9:00 or 10:00 PM Central USA time, but the server is up constantly, and you might find players anytime. Please help us pass the word. Invite your friends to join you online as we build up this community from its tiny state. At first, everybody will have trouble finding others with whom we can fly. This will only succeed if we all bring friends into the emerging new "LAC Community".
If you are the only online player in an online mission, LAC will populate the mission with "bot" players (generated on your own computer) to serve as your allies and as your opposition. Although those bots aren’t very smart, you can use them for target practice and to hone your tactical skills until some more online players join your mission.
