Our October issue is inspired by John Keats’ ‘Ode to Autumn’, a poem describing the progression from the last days of autumn to when winter nears. Our designers have taken inspiration from the “season of mists and mellow fruitfulness” and delivered projects rich in colours, textures, shapes and techniques. Learn to sculpt with flat knitted wire in Nealay Patel’s stunning ‘stargazer’ necklace and for something equally as lovely but altogether more rustic, have a go at embellishing wooden rings in Editor Helen Bowen’s ‘rings and things’. Or why not make a wrap bracelet that is both tantalisingly textural and fantastically flexible when worn as a necklace in Rebecca Anderson’s ‘ode to autumn’ project. The fruits, seeds and berries of the season take centre stage – create a wirework garland with Jilly Parrish or learn how to create an acorn mould for ICE resin with Clare Horner. With our ‘top 10’ pairs of autumnal earrings, a ‘designer challenge’ with beautiful bird components and eight ‘recipes for…’ seasonal clay connectors, summer will seem a distant memory!
