Our September issue is full of bold and eye-catching quilts. In one of our cover projects, A Splash of Red, Janet Goddard makes stylish statement with a super simple large quilt. Urban Bargello, designed and made by Linda Clements, adds a sophisticated edge to the traditional Bargello technique. Grab your stripy fabric and experiment with our main cover project, Playing with Stripes. It is designed by Popular Patchwork regular Mandy Munroe and you can find out more about her in our Meet the Maker article. There is more clever patchwork piecing with Sarah Williamson’s Woven Rectangles quilt, which takes simple blocks and twists them around to create an eye-catching pattern. If applique is more your thing we have some great projects for you. Sarah Sparkes has combined cute appliqu'e motifs and easy piecing with her autumnal Toadstool Quilt, and carrying on the woodland theme is the Owl Dup Cushion from Sizzix. If you fancy trying a small applique project check out Judith Hollies peg bags – they are sure to blow away the washday blues.
