Thoughts from this brown girl... controversial stuff...
Nappy headed Ho's... This has moved me to write. Not in anger, frustration... from the sad twisted sense of humor I have.
~deep sigh~
First the snippy response... "Hmmf.. wonder if his momma is a Ho"
Then the next response... "What would he have said if they were mostly white girls?"
Then it was "Jeez... finally something more exciting then Anna Nicole baby daddy" (who's a ho?)
Then it was.. "Damn, bet he loses his job... "
Then it was "Al Sharpton... like he is any kind of a spokes person... extortionist that he his." (I think similiar not as harsh thoughts 'bout jesse for the record)
Then it was.. "eh, he could retire, but I doubt it... dont think this will harm his career... even if he is fired."
Sad double standard, millions of songs with Ho's and nappy. Thank goodness he didnt say "poor Nappy headed Ho's" I suspect the lynching would have been more severe. I tell my son to pick out his nappy head all the time... and I have used the word Ho ... and believe me.. skin color was not a factor in the saying or sex for that matter...personal character was, and I did say it to their face.. and not just about them in reference. (Does that really make it better?) Well... at least he didnt claim he was drunk and go to rehab. He went on Al Sharptons show.. thats humble. He apologized. He's an ass. (I think he and Al are in it for some xtra cash) Suspension, certainly, his job... eh. (but I do understand MSNBC's decision the public has spoken)
Frankly, I like to know where the sexist, racist bastards are, out in the open.
And now my thoughts are... the Pendulum is swinging again... the otherway... perhaps we are getting to where we can have a happy easy perpetual swing... one we are all in groove to... or can at least respect.
For this IS progress, would this have been as a big a news issue 10 years ago? 15? 20? 30? In our life time, we have made progress, sometimes there has to be sacraficial lambs to remember the lesson. But everyone is learning... at some level or another...
If we don't talk about it... If we dont talk about things like this... it doesnt go away... it just goes underground. it doesnt die.. its like a fungus... needs the dark to grow.
I forgive Imus. I listend to him... has valid points... sometimes.. he's just an ass. Aren't we all.
