MOST bread in the Cat's Way has a blue crust and comes from a type of grain that was domesticated there. The plant is blue, with yellow spikes and gives the appearance of a painted landscape at harvest time. It appears luminescent, but doesn't give off light.

The grain thrives in low light and wet landscapes. This is fortunate, because days are usually dim and unpredictable. The 'sun' doesn't always rise. Sometimes night just hangs on for a few days, and in some places, daylight doesn't even occur. Night time is DARK.

Beel's house is outside of town and sits in a patch he probably cleared himself. It has dense, dark forest on three of its sides, the fourth side faces town.
