For most pioneers of the Morakodai, Installation Mora-V is the gateway to the stars. The Starfleet installation located at L1 above their homeworld is a place of acclimatization and exchange for members of the young, reclusive species.
A mere one and a half centuries ago, Mora-V was a world protected by the Prime Directive, its most advanced society on the verge of discovering gunpowder and entirely unaware of worlds beyond their homeworld.
This natural state of things was suddenly disturbed by the arrival of a Klingon House, an armada descending from the skies and claiming this world, a new dynasty making itself at home in the capitals of the 'primitive' species. The empire, without regard for the cultural integrity of their subjects, exploited resources and plundered holy sites, and introduced the language, creatures, and teachings of their own worlds to Mora-V.
The world of the Morakodai would never be the same, its frail balance destroyed and their old beliefs shattered. The wounds from this time of occupation continued to run deep, even when the world was claimed by the Federation following the Klingon-Federation War. The damage done was irreversible, but under the protection of the Federation, the Morakodai could at least decide the fate of their world on their own.
Most decided to turn inward, to try and mend the wounds and cope with the realities brutally unveiled by the Klingon's arrival. They had no wish to play part in the machinations of the larger galaxy and its wars. But in some, too much curiosity had been ignited. Some were not content remaining on their developing world, and the rules soon learned that it was easier to let them go than try to suppress it.
A compromise was reached, a compromise resulting in the construction of Installation Mora-V.
On its vast ring exists a metropolis, an embodiment of Federation Culture, side-by-side with vast spaces devoted to remaining in close resemblance of Mora-V. As pioneers of the young species make their way to the stars, this station marks the threshold, where they can be gradually introduced to the knowledge and wonders, but also the dangers of the wider galaxy, to mitigate culture shock and risk to their lives.
For many of the pioneers, this station alone is enough for a lifetime. Some turn back, some live permanently there, sharing in the Federation's wonders but staying close to their home. But there are the precious few, the true adventurers who are only more enticed by what they learn and see. They will start their journey here, preparing themselves to go out into the galaxy and experience everything that it has to offer.
