Lambton Reservoir sits atop a hill on a traffic island in Lambton New South Wales. It was one of the early reservoirs built by the waterboard, with construction being completed in 1885. It had a capacity of 400,000 gallons, and was filled with water piped from Maitland. The reservoir is mostly underground, and is now encased by a grassy mound. It has been replaced by newer facilities, and has not been used for several decades. The two storey building just to the north in this panorama was the Reservoir Hotel. It was built in 1888 and operated for 33 years, closing in 1921.
